Finally Home

Good Afternoon Sisters
I finally made it home Tuesday. My surgery was Oct 5. I had a TAH. Had to stay longer because of fever. I would only run it at night though. It seems that the pain is so intense in the morning and at night. I can do pretty well doing the day. I can't believe how swollen my belly is. I can't fit into anything. Thank god for elastic. I hope everyone is feeling better today.

I am just a little over 4 weeks and I just today wore blue jeans for the first time....and then only for 3 hours. It is still touchy but getting better every day. Be patient on that swelly belly and don't let it discourage you. Ice bags to my tummy were lifesavers too. Make sure there is fabric between the ice pack and skin though.

Welcome home, I had a similar experience with fevers. I had my TAH on 9/26/05..am feeling quite a bit better...except for a rash or two. Take it as easy as you can. Carry a pillow everywhere and try not to eat gassy food. The swelling belly will come and go. As far as the pain goes, I've been off prescription meds over a week. I only took an ocassional tylenol after that. Getting in and out of bed can hurt quite a bit...it lessens with time. I found for some reason a step stool by the bed made it a bit easier and a chair to brace myself when I stand up. Anyway, hope you're feeling much better soon.
