Swelling of the feet and ankles ~ any suggestions?

had the same experience, was told the anesthesia can also contribute to the swelling. have a friend who is a massage therapist, she came to the house and massaged my feet and legs twice a week for two weeks. by the third massage, the swelling was gone, and it's not returned.

Thank you ... I have spent the whole evening with my feet propped up. I'm calling the doc in the morning, but I will rest easier tonight knowing that this is pretty common. Thank you again..

I've had this problem off and on even prior to the surgery, you definately need to see the dr as there are many different conditions that could be the cause as others have mentioned. Some things that may help alleviate some of the swelling in the meantime are to try and stay off your feet and keep them elevated as much as possible. (however every hour or two you do need to get up and take a walk around to ensure your keeping your circulation going good and all) but in between keep em' up. Avoid salt, watch out for carbonated beverages (these can really help your body retain to much water) opt for water or iced tea etc.

Hoping you get some relief soon, I know it can be very uncomfortable.

Swelling of the feet and ankles ~ any suggestions?

Thanks! I did call the doc today and talked to a nurse. My left foot/ankle is more prominently swollen than the right, and it feels tight and borderline painful. I was told to ice it and elevate it and if it doesn't improve by the morning, I have to see the doctor. GAH! If it's not one thing, it's another, huh??
