Is this true? The more I do the quicker I will recover?
Hi ladies
My bf keeps telling me that the more I do the quicker I will recover is this true? He says I'm milking my recovery and that I'm allowed to do more stuff then what I have been doing. I'm already doing laundry dishes cleaning the bathroom. Ofcourse he has never had a hysterectomy so he don't understand what can happen. I don't know what to do about this I have told him I'm not allowed to do any lifting and so on but he tryst to tell me my doctor only said for a few weeks I know my doctor said for 6 weeks what should I do? Sorry if this is in the wrong spot but didn't know where to put it thanks.

Re: Is this true?
BF is wrong!!!! OMG We all heal differently but you only have one opportunity to get this right for the rest of YOUR life. There are many possible complications weeks and months later. You are only at week 3. Week 4 & 5 can change things on a dime. Please take it easier. Again - Your body.

Re: Is this true?
Oh gosh, sounds like someone I once knew... So Im sorry if this brings out my blunt side.. Your BF is no DR thats obvious, & if he doesn't get it, then maybe he should go hang elsewhere for a while..He really doesnt sound like a BF as he is not supportive nor does he have empathy. You really dont need any unnecessary pressure. One person can not speak for another re the pain & discomfort they're enduring.
There is only 1 chance to do this recovery process right, otherwise you could leave yourself open to problems for some time. (There are serious complications that could arise from being over active). Rest is the most important thing for your body to heal. You can get up & do little walks inside or nearby outside, then go rest again. You're already doing housework which is not advised until later. Six weeks is an average to use as a guide however, you will need a follow up appt with your Dr to determine if & when you're healed. Despite the 6 week gauge, that doesn't mean everything is completely 100%...I know a few that have taken months to over a year to fully recover. I suggest if you have any questions or concerns, you contact your DR as he/she would be the only one to make determinations regarding your health.
I wish you a restful recovery.

Your bf is full of it. You're recovering from major surgery and he's telling you that you're "lazy"? Honestly, it doesn't sound as if he respects you or as if he cares about your wellbeing.
Doing as much walking as your body is comfortable with *will* help your recovery. However, doing lots of bending and twisting will not. Myself, I wasn't up for cleaning the bathroom until five weeks out from surgery, and I only did it then because my sister was coming to visit.
You need to follow your doctor's restrictions *and* listen to your body - *not* your bf!

OMG, I have some strong words for your BF. The one word I'll use here is: WRONG.
Sure, you should engage in movement. That means a bit of walking, showering, etc., but your body needs a ton of rest at this time. My doctor basically said that laying down all day is not good, but sitting in a comfortable chair, reading, walking a bit (to the mailbox, not a half-marathon) is great.
And no, all that bending with the laundry and the dishes? If he ever wants to have a good sex life with you, he'll help you out. Is all I'm sayin'.

Is this true? The more I do the quicker I will recover?
Sweetie,
You need more time. Yes. Some heal super fast BUT 6 weeks is usually the minimum. You are at risk for scar tissue, organs sticking together etc. Sorry to be graphic and I'm not saying these things will happen. But you alone can take care of you in this situation. So please don't be guilted into doing more than you should handle. Perhaps you can direct bf to the hystersisters sure for more info.
Wishing you all the best for a good recovery!

You are right in not lifting anything. It's very important to follow your doctor's orders.
