3 weeks post hysterectomy: Kidney infection

I'm sorry I haven't been here in a few days. I've logged in to browse but havnen't felt like typing much. I started having terrible pain in my kidneys a few days ago. My primary doc said I had blood in my urine and 3x the bacteria that I should. She said it was a kidney/bladder infection. I have literally felt like someone is punching me so hard in my right kidney that I have to take a step back. The pain is unreal. I've had UTIs and stuff like that. I've even had kidney stones before. This hurts just as much. I've just taken my 4th antibiotic pill. It says you can't eat for at least an hour after you take it. So, I've got 15 more mins til I can eat. I'm about to starve this morning. Other than the kidney pain, my recovery hasn't improved much. The minute I think I'm getting better and healing really well, I over do it and I'mk back to feeling like I've been hit by a truck. The stress of trying to get everything in order to move into our new place really is taking it's toll on me. I feel like there is so so much to get done and we will never ever get it all done. Trying not to overdo it is the hardest thing for me. Esp now that I have a kidney infection. It's like.. I'm even more out of service than I was post op. Anyway, that's my update. =) Just over here thinking this surgery is of the devil lol.

It does set you back when you've had any type of complication. As for me, I had a vaginal cuff hematoma that has set me back a couple of weeks. I understand your frustration, believe me! But you really need to focus on your health and recovery right now and try not to stress about the move. Rest as much as possible and try to get someone else to organize moving. Right before our move 3 years ago, I tore the meniscus ligament in my knee and was completely worthless. I could mainly just sit and point. LOL 😁 I know it's frustrating, but hang in there! I hope you feel better soon.

Re: 3 weeks post hysterectomy: Kidney infection

It gets so frustrating. I am starting to wonder if the pain that caused the hysterectomy was more tolerable than the recovery process after. I've said a few times now I wished I'd never had this stupid surgery. I'm just so overwhelmed. When I sit or when I get in my vehicle.. It's like someone is punching me in my kidney and it hurts all the way through to the inside of my hip. Same thing when I roll over in bed or sit up in bed. Feels like I'm taking jabs to the kidney. Now my larges incision above my navel that is almost completely healed has started burning. They all done it when they were healing. I guess that means it's still healing inside there. I need a vacation from my body... If only that was possible. My doc called and said if I felt worse to come in but I should feel better by the 3rd dose of the antibiotics. I don't feel worse. I feel the same. I'm still waiting on my urine culture to come back from Monday. Plz someone tell me this gets better.

Re: 3 weeks post hysterectomy: Kidney infection

It takes your body a while to get over any type of infection even in the best of times, but your body is doing double duty by trying to recover from both surgery trauma and infection. I'm sorry you are in so much pain. Stay in contact with your doctor, continue your antibiotics and pain medication, and rest as much as you can. Stay positive. You had this surgery for a reason and you WILL recover. Take care.

You've earned a good rant, so by all means rant away!! Scream, cry, whatever makes you feel better. I know I have. Haha!
