I've got to stop reading these books!

You just reminded me of when my daughter was in labor with her son 2 years ago. Her friend, who is a nurse's daughter kept giving my daughter a speech about how anesthesia of any kind was bad for the baby, blah blah .... After 6 hours of labor my daughter was exhausted. She asked me what I thought, since I had gone thru both my labors with no meds. I said "Honey, every labor is different. If you remember my "labor story" from your birth, they were checking my progress so I could have meds when they discovered you had crowned and it was too late. 20 mins later there you were. If you need meds... have at em!"

She pushed the call button, told the nurse that she wanted something for pain. Then she picked up the phone next to her bed, called her friend and didn't even say hello. Just said "By, the way, old buddy old pal old friend who's never been thru this... You're fulla hooey about not having drugs in labor!" and she hung up.

She had her epidural put in and caught a 30 minute nap. When she woke up, she had more energy, less pain, and the baby was delivered in another 30 minutes.
