Car Ride Home Question!???
lalawoman,
I am noticing that I am having trouble falling asleep as the time gets nearer. I am thinking that is normal procedure, and trying to just not think about it and stay busy. I will order the swelly belly band today, and hope it gets here in time. I see there are at least 40 of us having the procedure done on the12th, and it makes it a little easier to know that I am not alone in this. Sisters, lets keep our head's up and know we will be feeling so much better once we get through this. I love this site and all my sisters.

Car Ride Home Question!???
Thanks Saraphina!! I have already gotten my swelly belly band -- and the 'reacher' is already proving invaluable since it hurts to bend over....

Car Ride Home Question!???
I live a little over an hour from the castle and DH made sure that I had a pillow in the truck for the ride home. My last nurse made sure that I had taken pain medication shortly before I left the castle and even gave me an ice pack to take with me. I placed the ice pack on my belly and placed the pillow between the ice pack and the seat belt. Made for a very comfortable ride home!

Car Ride Home Question!???
my ride home was about 30 minutes. I took a Norco right before leaving and made sure hubby brought 2 pillows to hold against my tummy. The nurse had also given me this band thing to wear when I was walking. It helped a bunch. I leaned the seat back and away we went. I think it was harder getting in and out of the car than the actual ride.
Good luck!

Car Ride Home Question!???
I had about a thirty minute ride home with a LAVH. I took a painkiller prior to leaving and did fine. One word of caution, I had bladder repairs and my urogyn said to be careful with stairs or steps. My daughter picked me up in our large, tall SUV, which was very hard to get into without straining. I think if it had just been the hysterectomy it wouldn't have been too bad, but with the sling it was another story! Good luck with everything!

Car Ride Home Question!???
Honestly, I was miserable during the car ride home. My husband took the road with the smallest risk of bumps, but traffic and jolts really radiated throughout my body.
I'd recommend a painkiller before you get on the road, and plenty of pillows in the car so you can get yourself into a comfortable position and relax a bit. I just had a lot of fear, too. I was convinced every single person on the road was going to smash into us.

Thank you!!!!
Thank you all soooooo much for the support! I have called off the helicoptor crew. My kids are a little disappointed, but they will get over it eventually! Tomorrow at 1:50 is my pre-op appointment. My date for the hysterectomy is approximate, and tomorrow I will have a set date within the week (maybe this week, if I'm lucky - after I explained the pain that I am having from the adenomyosis, the doctor told me he would get me in ASAP!) I am actually excited to get it over with!
Thank you all again for all of the support and reassurances. It is sooooooo wonderful to know that I have Sisters out there that are going through the same thing! Good luck to you all!
Oh, has anyone used the Swelly Belly thing? Is it necessary for a laparoscopy or vaginal hysterectomy? (I still can not get all the abbreviations down!)
Thank you!
Gretchen
