fibromyalgia + hysterectomy pain
I wanted to know if any of you have fibromyalgia and are extra concerned in regards to the longer recovery time. I keep reading alot of posts on here about women that are looking forward to taking that one last pill and ending their recovery time as well as saying goodbye to the pain. Unfortunatley I take pain meds regularly for my chronic pain and feel kind of blah about what my recovery will be like- dealing with both acute and chronic pain. Are any of you dealing with or have dealt with the same scenario?? Please, Please reply.

There are members around here who have fibromyalgia and hopefully, someone will stop by soon to share their experience with you. In the meantime, I did a search and found the following that might help a little in your research.

I hope this helps. You're day is coming soon. I'll be thinking about you and wishing you the very best!

fibromyalgia + hysterectomy pain
I don't have fibro but do have Ra and on constant meds. My doctors kept me on RA meds along with percocet during recovery. I functioned better then than now lol. I know not much help as mine is related to bones. Hope someone comes along with fibro who can answer your questions better. Best of luck to you.

fibromyalgia + hysterectomy pain
Hello! I am also scheduled for hysterectomy on 11/11/08. I do not have Fibro; however, I do have Lupus and am in constant chronic pain. I have to take paid meds everyday all day just to be able to get out of bed. I am concerned about additional recovery time as well -or- the dreaded worsening of my current lupus flare. I am praying the hospital staff will be understanding in the management of both the acute and chronic pain.
I additionally have a blood clotting disorder and have just finished chemotherapy (which did not work for the lupus) and am just more than a little anxious to get through this safely.
I'll be looking forward to seeing how you are doing leading up to and after surgery.

bhamilton320:
I had a lot of concerns about fibro and the hyster. Talk to your doctor about additional meds that you may need. Remember some of us with fibro take a bit longer to heal than other. I recovered a bit more slowly than others and took my time, did not puch myself too much and now feel pretty darn good!
My doctor gave me additional meds to get me through, I do not know about anyone else's pain, but I was ok. Talk to your dr. and they can fix you up. Good Luck!

Thank you for your replies. I have a great ob/gyn who is very supportive of my needs for extra pain meds- so that does help. It is comforting to know of others who have double issues with pain.
asquared- I will be thinking about your recovery and I hope you're spared a "flare"! I hope we can catch up in post op afterwards!
