LAVH: Back to work plan?

I'm self employed and work from home. I planned for 2 weeks completely 'out' and for another 4 weeks of intermittent work as I felt up to it.

The first 2 week plan was perfect. The second 4 week plan, not so much. I could not sit at my desk for long before I became uncomfortable and I was tired a lot. When I wasn't napping my brain was too foggy, unfocused and scattered to really be productive. I guess I looked busy, but for all the work that was actually accomplished, I might as well have been watching TV. I love to read and couldn't focus on a book for more than a few pages. It's only just this past week I feel I can put in a solid days work.

For those of you with less invasive surgeries - remember, it's only the method that's different. The end result for all hysters is roughly the sam - the uterus has been removed and the internal damage done to make that happen is basically the same for everyone. Internal healing will be no different.

Great point McLila. My surgeon reminded me during each of my post-op visits that she worked on me from hip-to-hip on the inside. Cutting and reattaching ligaments, manipulating organs, nerves, muscle etc. The outer incisions are the very least of it.

Take your time so that you do not lose more time off work due to complications or delayed recovery. Listen to your body
