why cant i have sex?

why cant i have sex for two weeks? i had a laproscopic hyster, kept cervix, lost ovaries and had a transvaginal bladder sling. I still dont feel the greatest, but i have quite a bit of desire!!

Because regardless of the type of hysterectomy you had, you have a "cuff" that's sewn shut at the uppermost part of what was left behind, and that cuff needs to heal. Take it from someone who had many MANY ugly and awful complications -- two weeks is NOTHING in view of what can go wrong.

I'm glad to hear you're feeling well enough to be super-charged with desire at this point, but I recommend you hold off until the doctor specifically okays you.

2 weeks is nothing. I have to wait 6 weeks. And even then I may not get the OK yet. I had complications during surgery and doc wants to make sure that I don't compromise my healing and health. My wedding anniversary is Dec 27 and I go back to see the doc on the 28. He said he may tell me to wait longer at that point depending how well I've healed in 6 weeks. I've heard of others having to wait as long or longer than me so that there will be no chance of infection or tearing of stitches. Just hang in there. I hear that even if you try this early out that the big O is less than satisfying anyway.

A hysterectomy is major surgery and, although there's not much visible on the outside, a massive amount of work has been undertaken internally.

Oh hon....of course no sex! They did major work on you....just putting something in there can really harm the healing process. You may feel great, look great, etc, but no way!!! The doc checked my va-jay-jay at 4 days post op, and I can't even think of dh touching it now at 7 days post op! ICK!!

I can completely sympathize w.NIXIE, my wedding anniversary was Nov. 16th and we didn't get the ok until Dec. 7. However, we did have wonderful external stimulation and I acheived the big O the first time ( I did it myself wanted to make sure I still worked before I let DH down, at least in my mind) it was great.

Seriously though WAIT you don't want any complications from this and you may have to wait for that to healand wo't be able to have your DH then. During this time I know you can be frustrated, but trust me in the end it is all worth it. Besides, I feel like a teenager again w/ my DH and can't get enough of him. Told him we have 6 weeks to make up for(LOL)

I'm sure your DH will be very nervous and scared that first time, mine was and we discussed it in great length before hand. WAIT and then ENJOY!

p.s. I am still waiting and still may not get the go-ahead at my TEN-WEEK post-op, the day after Christmas.

My doc said 6 weeks too. I can totally wait due the way I feel, but poor Dh is going nuts.....LOL The weirdest thing is I have been having crazy dreams and I get fired up. I have never had those before so that is weird. I am ready to go, but I know the danger that lies ahead if I slip and cheat. There is a great reason as the ladies above said for not doing it now. Don't put it in your head that the big O will be a let down, or it will be certain. Everyone is different and everyone feels things differently, so you never know until then. I was hugging DH and couldn't let him go and he gave me a kiss and let me say.....we had to split up for the day because we both are ready for the ok....hehe. I feel more charged than I did before surgery. I have been married for 11& 1/2 years and never felt more deprived.....LOL Good Luck!

Been there and haven't looked back since the 6 week mark! I tell you - my DH & I got very creative - afterall my doc said no intercourse, nothing about no "o's"....I did check and the doc said that having orgasms was fine just make sure nothing gets or got inserted! Anyway....sex has been wonderful and nothing to worry about now and the O's are FANTASTIC!

Hang in there....the wait is certainly worth it!!
