count down time

It is now 6 days away til surgery time. My doctor says I will be home the same day. Is this true, or do most people have to stay over at least one night? I love this sight it has been a God send.
It has helped to put me at ease. I know I am going to enjoy conversing with everyone who has been through this or will be going through this.

Welcome to Hystersisters! You don't say what type of hysterectomy you'll be having. I had a vaginal hysterectomy and stayed 23 hrs. As far as I know, that is about the least amount of time to stay. I would opt for at least that as this is major surgery.

I have never heard of anyone having a hysterectomy and being sent home the same day!

My gyn said i would be in hospital for 3-5 days.I saw him today and i told him that when i had my son c-section,i came home to quick (3) days.He said that i should stay for as long as needed.My date is dec 5th.

I had a vaginal hysterectomy on a Monday at noon, and didn't come home until Wednesday at noon. Even then I was wiped out by the time I got home. I can't even imagine coming home the same day, although I've seen a couple people on this site, Shelle-belle being one of them, who have done it.

Hi never heard of coming home on same day. What type of hysterectomy are you having. I had a TVH on 10/24 and came home 2 days later.

I asked my Dr. how long my hospital stay would be at my appointment today and she said....most of her vaginal hysters (that is what I am having) go home the next day, but it would depend on how I do. My surgery is at 7:30 in the morning. Good Luck with yours!
