SAH Pain when having a bowel movement after hysterectomy

So sorry for you. I came home and immediately started drinking lots of water, prune juice, ate apples, raisins and took stool softeners for the first couple of weeks. Moving around as much as possible vs staying in bed also helped. I continue watching my diet and occasionally take a stool softner. That's the secret to avoiding constipation for me.

I don't know if you are talking about being constipated or not, but for me I have had no trouble with that, but it's still super painful when I have to do either one. I went to the dr and she said it was all a bladder infection. So now it's ok to pee but a BM is still super painful

It all comes down to peeing and pooping, doesn't it?! My bladder has started to feel like I have a bladder infection... It hurts to pee. Then afterwards it feels like it's cramping. Oh, and it has chosen not to notify me when it's full sometimes. I'll think, "I haven't gone in a couple hours so I think I'll try" and I release (painfully, usually) about a gallon!

I can't have a bm without the use of a stool softener and/or miralax, and that hurts as well. I'm wondering when they shoved everything out of my vagina if it irritated my rectum some how. I figure I'm still healing, so I'll be patient for a bit longer, and if it doesn't change, I'll mention it to my doc.

Just thinking about what we as women sometimes experience. Let's laugh vs crying, if it hurts, try to smile! We hystersisters are a tougher breed of the gender of strong women. But it's nice to have this support system,!

I am there with you. I have the exact same symptoms. How are you fairing now. I had my surgery on November 11th. I just emailed my surgeon/nurse. What did you hear?

I too am feeling most of these comments. Something's so big inside it feels as though the flow of pee is pressurised and I have to force it out. Anyone else had that too? Hope the BM sorts for you. Every thing I swallow ends up hurting when it reaches abdo. Hope it sorts soon.

2 senokot and a stool softener a day works for me. I've learned that sometimes my abdominal pain is due to bowels and the senokot really helps me....
