Pathology results.....

I got my path results from my hysterectomy that was done on Monday. My follow up isn't until Feb. 22. So some of you more experienced sisters maybe can help me out....

-Mild chronic cervicitis and squamous metaplasia (?????- I've never had an abnormal pap)

-secretory phase endometrium

-Adenomyosis (explains the heavy painful periods)

-congested fallopian tubes (had a tubal in 2010 ???)

-no dysplasia, hyperplasia, or malignancy identified (Good news)

Re: Pathology results.....

Your cervix is a bit inflamed. Some of the epithelial (surface lining) cells typical of the upper end of your cervix (endocervix) are demonstrating a benign, non-cancerous change (metaplasia) and beginning to look more like the sqamous cells typical of the lower end of your cervix (ectocervix).

Your endometrium was in the third week of your cycle, when it stops building up thickness and gets ready to accept a fertilized egg if one shows up.

You have endometrial (glandular) tissue inside your myometrium (muscular uterine wall). As you say, that's likely what was causing the heavy, painful periods.

I'm wondering if the congestion in the Fallopian tubes was due to the fact that they'd become dead-end streets?

No pre-cancer or cancer! :-)
