Surgery done... all is well

I just wanted to let everyone know about my experience in the castle.

I went in on the 26th at 6am, surgery was at 8:45. I was checked into my room when I first arrived and got settled in and of course set out my basket of goodies. Since I am a 'hard stick' they called in the resource team. One stick for the IV and blood work...WOOWOO!!!!! That was a first and a good sign of the day to come. They came and took me for my final walk to the 'holding' area. This is where I lost it, I just hung on to my DH and cried. They were very patient and let me cry as long as I needed too. One final kiss and see ya later and I was off.

DR met me in the hall and asked if I was mourning the loss of my uterus and I told him that I did realize there were a few things that I had about it and yes. He then said we could send me home with it and not do it. I flipped right there and say NO... I am ready.. He just laughed at me.

They took me in the OR and I was wide awake, never did get that medicine to help me calm down because we were waiting for the A man to talk to me. I was making jokes and had everyone laughing. Then it was ni ni time! Next thing I remember I was in my room and DH was smiling at me... saying everything came out good and the DR left the ovaries. DR was able to do a TVH!!!

I had no pump for pain. They gave me a shot of Demoral and something else and that was it for the day for me. Don't remember anything else. Heck, was even told I forgot to breathe a couple of times...LOL. Sometime that evening I finally came around and they switched me to percocet.

DR came in the next morning around 5, said everything was good, although uterus size took him by surprise (was about 18weeks large), will get lab info on the cancer sometime this week. He was so happy about the whole thing which made me feel much better.

He also said I was going home that day because I was doing so well. I was so shocked.

I was sent home less than 24 hours after my surgery. I did not feel I was ready for it but I was not ready to fight it either. I guess this would be my only complaint about the surgery is being home so early.

I do recommend taking that basket of goodies EVERYONE loved it!!! and i sure did get attention. I have some other suggestions I will post in another thread as this one turned out a lot longer than I wanted. (sure have missed talking here)
