Feeling under the weather

I had my TAH on Friday December the 14, I am now at home. Feeling alone and a bit blue. I am usually very busy and finding it hard to relax...I have many things running through my head. Worries if I'm healing ok, worries if my sex life will be the same, worried of my vagina has been shortened too much to accommodate my husband, worried that my kids may feel neglected because I have to rest. Agggghhh!!! Wondering if these are all normal worries??

Re: Feeling under the weather

Hi,

I think you sound perfectly normal! It must be hard to be healing this time of year. It's dark, gloomy, cold, etc. on top of the fact you have been through something major. It all can contribute to making you feel a little blue. So yes, I think you sound normal!

Here's the thing, you're really only out of commission for a couple weeks. In the grand scheme of things, the kids and hubbie will be fine. It really is okay to take a little time for yourself to heal. (I know that can be hard and logically it probably makes sense but you can't stop the urge to be mom and taking care of everyone else).

As long as you're not having unusual pain or symptoms, you're likely healing well. I had my cervix removed. My boyfriend can't tell the difference and neither can I. Everything is still in working order. Odds are, you'll be fine too.

I'm not sure how old your kids are, but I have no doubt they know you care about them. They most likely just want you to feel better.

Try to find ways to alleviate the stress. I found recovery to be the easy part. But I was off during summer and could walk and do other outdoor activities which I think makes a difference. But again, you're normal. We all heal differently and think differently.

And it's okay to have a "stressed out" moment. I'm out of recovery and I'm still having them this time of year, lol. That's why I'm off to Yoga right now.

Hang in there!

Re: Feeling under the weather

Hi Hollyday, WIGAL is absolutely right, what you are feeling is normal. We go through a rollercoaster of emotions. You're going to be okay. Your kids qillebe okay. Mommy needs this time to heal so that you will be able to do all of the things that you weren't able to do before. Take care of you, because if you don't, you won't be able to take care of you or anyone else. You only get one chance to heal right the first time

The vagina stretches and unless your husband is abnormally large, you will be able to accommodate him. That's what my doctor told me when I asked that question. I'm almost 9 months post op and accommodating hasn't been a problem, nor have orgasms or being lubricated enough. But that's not for you to worry about right now, because you have at least a month to go. When you are cleared and it is time, when you are ready the most important thing is to relax.

Once your hormones have leveled themselves out more, it will get better.

Use this time to relax and let yourself heal. Don't rush things. Before you know it you'll be wondering where the time went. So just pamper the princess!
Take care of yourself and Happy Healing!

Lot's of ((HUGS)) to you
