1 week and 2 days post op :)

My surgery was on March 12th and I'm feeling better each day. I had the C section cut and doc found multiple adhesions which came back from pathology as endometriosis. Uterus, tubes and ovaries were all removed. Pain is manageable by day with Motrin, but still use Viccodin at night. Also still hurts to pee...but I'm attributing that to gas-- which I also still have. My other problem is severe lower back ache. I think I may have overdone the "walking". It seems like when I don't walk as much I don't have the backache the next morn... OR maybe I'm not in the proper sleeping postion? I tend to sleep on my side, but have now put a pillow between my knees and this seems to help. Is back pain after a hysterectomy normal?

Hi Juljame I had back pain after my surgery, too, and I figured part of it was due to the fact that I was spending so much time sitting and lying down--not all the time, but more than I was used to. I had a body pillow that I used between my knees, and that helped a lot.

I had alot of back pain too and used a heating pad for quite some time. I think part of it is the back muscles are compensating for the belly muscles we are pampering and I think it has something to do with how they positioned us on the operating table. It does get better! Take care!

Thanks for the info. My 2 week check up is tomorrow, so I'll ask her then.

OH, I think you might be right, about my back muscles compensating for my stomach muscles. I started sleeping with a pillow between my knees (I sleep on my side) and I'm trying to be more conscious of not putting the strain on my back when walking. Thanks everyone!
