Crohn's and colitis flares back up after hysterectomy

I know a hysterectomy doesn't cure Chron's and colitis, but had hoped I wouldn't have has many flare ups. Today, is 16 days after surgery and I was woken up at 2:30 a.m. with a terrible sharp pain.
I was able to get out of house and go shopping with my family but worried the entire time about embarrassing them.
I can't wait to have a healthy routine again.

Re: Crohn's and colitis flares back up after hysterectomy

{{{{Hugs}}}} I know what you are going through. I am currently in remission from ulcerative colitis. My surgeon consulted with my gastro doc prior to my surgery. My gastro doc warned me to take as little narcotic pain meds as possible because they can cause constipation which can bring on an attack. They also do a number on your stomach lining and can bring on a gastric bleed. As a result, I only took tylenol. I was sore, but I lived through it. The thought of a colitis attack was worse than the soreness I was experiencing. I was terrified of going out of remission. I am almost 9 weeks out and so far, so good.
