Last ovary removed 5/9 HRT ?
I had a rectocele, bladder sling, right overy removal and adhesions removed on 5/9 - (Endomtrosis for many many years) - back in 98 i had utuerus, cervix and left ovary removed - felt better for 9 years then endo ect returned.
Ifeared menapause symptoms and 2 week after surgery they hit me hard - the doc said itwas important to get me on a low dose ofHRT (premarin) for menapause but low enough NOT to feed the endo. I tried the .3 helped a little (was having no pain) then moved to the .425 that worked for 2 weeks but slowly endo pain returned and then hot flashes and night sweats and pain worsend - moved to the 0625 for 3 days then I got hit with BAD abdominal and rectal pain.
Got so bad i called the doc last night - I questioned him 10x regarding NOT finding endo inthe culdesac (anyone who has had endothere knows that rectal pain) and he kept saying he saw none - he saidlast night that the .625 is too high for the endo and feeding it that obviously there was endo in the culdesac that is by a nerve - to go backdown to the 4.25 deal will whatever menapause issues - but I am confused because at that level is when the bearable pain came back - I am so mad the doc missed this endo does anyone haveany suggestions ----

Last ovary removed 5/9 HRT ?
Hi
sorry to hear you are still having problems. I had endo in the cul de sac (pouch of douglas) and also on the bowel and on the vaginal cuff and adhesions which they have removed(hopefully.) I have been put on Kliovance/Activella which is low dose estrogen and progestogen. My consultant said I can never take oestrogen on its own, I must have progestogen as well to stop endo growing back. I have had no bowel cramps since the oopherectomy (so far so good) but I have had the odd spasm of rectal pain here and there, not for long and not very often. I am hoping this is just healing pains (6 weeks post op oopherectomy and endo removal) I really couldn't handle it if the endo came back again. This was my second surgery in 18 months and it is taking me longer to get right this time, have had 3 lots of antibiotics for wound infection, still taking the last lot. I sometimes wonder if I should carry on taking hrt, but decided to take it for a while and see how it goes. Endo is such a nightmare isn't it. You think its gone and suddenly its back again.
Hope you get sorted out soon.

Last ovary removed 5/9 HRT ?
Honestly; when I awoke from surgery and asked him about the culdesac endo and he said he saw none i was shocked as i knew there was some due to that rectal endo pain. I believe he did not do his best to thoroughly look for the endo which makes me angry. I am now faced with letting myself heal as I had a lot of surgery done - then finding a doc that can spot a spec of it anyplace to go back in and zap it all. I can not function without estrogen as the menapause surgically enduced was real bad for me, but I also know taking it is giving the endo food to grow - even ina low dose.
What I havelearned for sure is that when i went from the premarin .45 to the .625 my endo LOVED IT (like giving it steak and lobster) because the pain was the worst endo rectal pain i have ever had - when i switched back to the .425 i get a pain here or there but not the debilitating ones like on .625.
My doc said the goal is to take enough estrogen to control the menapause (and a strong family history of ostepooerosis) but not enough to feed the endo but i think any amount will feel it.
I hope that you feel better - prior to my hysterectomy (they left the right ovary in back in 98) i had 6 scopes done - 2 of them were 3 months apart. This doctor has not mentioned me taking projesterone at all. I may considerfindnga new doctor to manage my HRT but finding one is likea needlein a hay stack.

Last ovary removed 5/9 HRT ?
Hi again
although I am getting the odd hot flush with the low oestrogen I am trying to ride the storm as it were, I would rather have the flushes than the endo. I am 46 this year so would have been going into meno soon anyway. I am hoping that once my body gets used to low oestrogen the flushes will stop. I think finding another doctor who is willing to try you on progestogen and oestrogen would be a good idea. My consultant said I could change my HRT if I wanted but stressed that I must NEVER take it without progestogen, because that is what stops the endo growing back. It is confusing because the doctors don't seem to agree on it but a lot of ladies here in UK with endo are taking progestogen with the oestrogen too. Hope you find a solution soon.
