what has hindered you during recovery?

as for me,

my neighbors barking dog. Today, I opened the door to let in fresh air and I swear my neighbors dog hasn't stopped barking.

Additionally, I'm having the worse time getting up from a sitting or laying position. I find myself

rolling off the sofa on to the floor,
holds pillow against belly
exhaling to get up from the floor,
dust myself off .

By then time I'm standing up straight, I'm out of energy to continue wherever I was going, LOL

I am 6 mos out and I have a hard time with energy levels right now. I did battle depression post op too. That's better now though.

Re: what has hindered you during recovery?

I am 20 days post op. My hubby has a tummy virus. He was throwing up all night as well as on the toilet. I was so exhausted this morning from no sleep. I ran to the store for gatorade and meds for him then tried to crash on the couch. My dogs decided I should get no rest so that was a fun attempt. My son kept making me laugh and eventually cry from the pain by my incision.

Re: what has hindered you during recovery?

I am 4+ weeks after a 5 hr. robotic hysterectomy where everything was removed vaginally. The uterus was the size of a large canteloupe. I am feeling very tired and crampy down low but the worst annoyance is the incision from the robot about an inch above my belly button. It is sore and irritated but not infected, I don't think. It is lumpy underneath and hurts a lot. Has anyone else had this problem and any suggestions? Also, there is a stitch coming out of a lower incision and the doctor told me to pull it with a tweezer and cut it but I really don't want to. What should I do??

The incision above my belly was the worst! As for the stitch, if it is a dissolvable stitch (I'm sure it is), it will eventiually come out on it's own. I had one and I just gave it a small tug every once ina while and one day it came out. So, if it isn't bugging you too much, you can just leave it alone.

roosterpc,

please tell me more about your energy levels because it's something I hope gets better now that I've had the hysterectomy. Prior to, I was very fatigue because of the blood loss.

I was the same way. I took iron to help with that so I wouldn't become anemic. After surgery, I gradually built up more energy, stayed awake longer, was able to more physically but as I get into my fullroutine it is very hard to keep going some days. part of it is what i eat and another part is i am heavier than i ever have been but it's only 20 pds more than at surgery if that. My dr says I am doing way too much and that's why im tired. I work full time as a bookkeeper, we have three gardens that I preserve and can, I am a 4-H volunteer, have an acreage and am currently hauling lunch to the field every day for 6-7 men that my mom and I do.I can go about 3-4 days and then I am WIPED OUT! last nite was day 4. I was out for the count at 9:15. My alarms goes off at 6 and i hit the sack at 10 or so. I have been doing acupuncture for energy but he says Im burnuing it off too quick. It does make a helluva difference though. I just wish I wasnt so tired and I don't want to stop any of my activities as I have done them for years. I am trying to find the even keel so to speak and itsa struggle.

Pain is kickin my butt. And having a hard time staying still at home.

Re: what has hindered you during recovery?

Winding up back in the hospital at one week. It put me back two weeks. It really sucked and at 8 weeks, I'm more like 6 weeks. It really sucks and I'm still exhausted!
