I have one more question

i've had one ovary since 2001 and it was more than enough!!! how do i know? my fibroids went from an insignificant size in 2001 to larger than a grapefruit when everything was removed 6.5 weeks ago. those uterine fibroids are estrogen fed.

here's another little tidbit i learned...i thought...hey, i only have one ovary, so shouldn't i only have my period ever other month. NOPE. it didn't work that way. the one ovary cycled monthly. so while you won't be having periods, you will be cycling still...

of course this is all dependent upon if your ovary works fine after surgery...sometimes they sleep a little while before jumping back in there.

hope that helps some.

happy healing.

I have one more question

You mean enough hormones to avoid menopause? Maybe. From what I hear it is different for everyone. My dr doesn't start ladies on hormones until they are needed because he says not everyone does.

Good luck!

I have one more question

I have only one ovary as well. I am 34 yrs old and am suffering some terrible hot flashes. Recent blood tests revealed however that I was in the corpus luteal phase of my cycle and the estradiol levels were perfectly normal, so who knows what gives!? I just keep hoping things get back to a happy medium soon. These hot flashes are the ultimate pits. Good luck!

I have one more question

My Dr. left my right ovary, and I have been having horrible menopausal symptoms. He put me on the Climara patch until my ovary kicks in. He told me that my ovary may be in shock from the surgery and it may take awhile for it to kick in. He gave me samples for 3 weeks and then we'll check it then. If it''s really bothersome, call and see what the Dr. suggests.

HTH,
Crissie
