Hallelujah! I've left the Castle
Well I made it through my LSH yesterday and am home today! Has anyone else suffered from major right shoulder pain after this surgery? My shoulder hurts worse than my incision sites! SO GLAD TO BE HOME!
I HAVE THE MOST AWESOME DH! I think I'll go lay down now! Love to all my fellow sisters!

The shoulder pain is probably the CO2 making its way out of your body. If it persists longer than a day or two dont hesitate to contact your DR.

Hallelujah! I've left the Castle
I've not had a hysterectomy but in my travels around the internet I read that you can get shoulder pain from the gas they insert in your abdomen for laparoscopic surgery. I'm sure if you searched around the site you'll find lots of women who've experienced the same pain.
I hope it gets better for you!

Hallelujah! I've left the Castle
The others have answered with what my doctor also told me.
I just wanted to say 'Hi!" since I had the same procedure on Aug 4th! I felt so much better one week post op, I am surprised at how well I feel. I stayed in bed most of the first week, but suddenly I woke up at one week post op and realized I felt so much better! Hope you are doing well! The pain was never too severe, just the stitch pain bothered me the most.
Congrats on your new princess crown!

I haven't had my hysterectomy yet, but after having my tubes tied several years ago I had major pain in my right shoulder. Try a heating pad. I used one for two or three days. Good luck!

Thanks so much anda123 and EydieG! I woke up this morning and my shoulder felt so much better. so I guess that the Co2 just needed to get out of my system. I'm glad to hear anda 123 that you are feeling so well one week out that is so encouraging to me! Continued health to you both on your journey.

Hallelujah! I've left the Castle
Hi, welcome home! I came home yesterday from my TAH on the 11th. I was completely surprised to have that same shoulder pain! I had it when I had my lap. cholecystectomy but hadn't thought I would have it with my open surgery. It is quite painful but began to diminish by yesterday morning. LuAnn

Welcome Home!
I haven't had my hysterectomy yet, but when I had my gallbladder out, I experienced that same shoulder pain due to the gases. Walking and Gas-X helps alot
