Can't loose a pound !!!!

Hey sisters.......
Between being on Lupron and then having a Hyster I've gained serious weight! I'm up 8 sizes from last summer (8 to 16). For the past three weeks I've done major dieting and HARDCORE working out. I'm power walking two miles and doing at least an 45 mins of cardio (either Tae Bo or The Firm) six days a week. My husband lost eight pounds I gained two!!!!! I'm completely discouraged!!!!!! I'm not giving up I'm just mad!!!! Has anyone else experienced not beign able to loose weight?????

Sorry if this thread doesn't belong in this area!!!!!

Can't loose a pound !!!!

Heya Shannon,

I have heard with Lupron weight gain is normal and it's tough to lose it with those hormones in your system, but keep trying. How many Lupron shots did you have?

Have you talked to your doctor about it?

But most of all remember, true beauty comes from within.

Hugs
Jess

Can't loose a pound !!!!

I have never taken Lupron but I can tell you that I have major issues losing weight over the last 3 yrs. I would eat right and exercise my heart out and only to lose 1 pound and then gain it back. I went to a Dr and was given phentermine an lost 20 pounds between Christmas and right before my surgery. Now granted it might not seem like a lot over 6.5 months but I built up muscle mass so where the scale said that my measurements are awesome. Since I have had surgery though I haven't taken my meds for weight and the only reason I haven't is because they keep me awake and I need my sleep right now. I have gained weight since the surgery that has nothing to do with swelly belly so I definitely feel your pain.

The only thing I can suggest is finding out from the Dr what gives with the Lupron and see below

Eating- Find a way to eat that is right for you (ie carbs, no carbs, low carbs) I suggest south beach or weight watchers
I did lose 8 lbs in one week eating grilled chicken and fish and steamed veggies (was water and actual fat loss)

Exercise- Depending on your body type (google- body types and find which body type you are) either do more cardio or weight training. I find that less cardio and more weight training works for me. You also have to switch your exercise routine up every couple days because your body gets used to what you are doing and adjusts to that. I do think you might be doing too much cardio for your body type though since you aren't losing anything and Tae Bo is a workout.

I just ordered ten minute trainer from Tony Horton and one I haven't been able to use it and can't wait to but I think his P90 (or something like that) looks like it is an awesome workout.

If it is one thing I know is about exercise and body types. I have made it a science because of the trouble I have had.

Losing weight is a tough battle not only physically but mentally it is a killer. I love food and love to eat but I also have a gorging issue. It takes a lot for me to physically put my fork down at times, its a battle that I am starting to win.

Hang in there and switch up your workouts.

Can't loose a pound !!!!

I was having the same problem with weight loss -- LA Weight Loss, Phentermine and a bariatrics physician, etc. (Phentermine made me insane, so that didn't work..) I finally saw an endocrinologist. He put it into perspective for me. I am pre-diabetic and not terribly overweight (maybe 20 pounds). I have finally discovered that I MUST do a low-glycemic diet (The Fat Resistance Diet by Leo Galland, MD is the best I've found). My doc looked over my food diary and exercise chart. He said I'm doing everything right and that rather than worrying about week to week weight gain/loss, look at it over a period of months -- what's the trend? If it's down, then so be it. That's the way the body works. He also said that research shows that we need 30-40 minutes of aerobics with heart rate in the 120-140 zone most days per week. It ain't easy, girls...
Just another thought -- have you been checked for thyroid/insulin/glucose tolerance? Ladies our age start to have problems in those areas, which hurt our weight loss efforts.
Ok, enough from me Best of luck...don't stress too much - that never works, or I'd be a Size 2

Can't loose a pound !!!!

I went to a endocrinologist (now remember its navy) and he said my blood work looked good. No thyroid, no other issues. I have the fat gene
I don't want to be a size 2 I just want to be a size 8-10 and I'd be happy.

If I had the money I'd do lypo get rid of the fat cells so I wont gain the weight back.

btw I was on phentermine a while back and it made me crazy but it was a different manufacturer than the one I am on now and this one is the best for me.
