Silver nitrate--does it hurt?

I am 9 days post op and I started having this watery rusty colored bleeding on day 7. It was heavy for about 24 hours. I called the doc and he said it could wait until my appt tomorrow. He said he may need to put some silver nitrate on the vaginal cuff. I had a TAH BSO.

Has anyone had this bleeding/discharge?

Does the silver nitrate hurt?

Re: Silver nitrate--does it hurt?

Yep! I had it done because my stitches just didn't want to dissolve entirely. And, the good news is -- NO, it didn't hurt! At least, not for me. (Believe me, I've had MUCH worse done.) Just picture in your mind one of us holding your hand -- you've got plenty of support here. Hope all goes well for you and keep us posted!

I am 8 weeks post op TVH and had to go in today to have some bleeding prowed flesh treated with silver nitrate. It was uncomfortable but not unbearable.

Re: Silver nitrate--does it hurt?

Doc appt went fine. NO silver nitrate needed! He says my discharge/bleeding is normal, just heavier than most. THANK YOU for your support!

Re: Silver nitrate--does it hurt?

Since you are only a week or so post op it shouldn't hurt too bad. When I had it done I honestly didn't feel much at all. I felt him and the intruments but not the actualy "act". My doctor claimed it was because alot of the nerves were not firing down there. So.. fingers crossed you will be just as lucky.
