After Lupron???

My OBGYN asked me to try one more month on Lupron and see a pain specialist to rule out fibromyalgia as a possible cause for my continued sensations of pain. I am thrilled to finally be getting some relief after the 3rd Lupron injection, and I see my pain specialist next month. By that point, I will have had my 4th Lupron injection.

My OBGYN's plan is to try birth control, either pills or the IUD, after I stop Lupron. Has anyone had success with that?

I did. I did 3 shots of Lupron (9 months total) and did BC pills afterwards. The moment I stopped the Lupron (4 months after the last shot) I was in horrible pain. The BC pills didn't work and my fibroids were worse than b4 the shots. Everyones situation is different but I wanted to share my experience with you. GL

Can I ask what side effects you had from the shot?

I had a TAH and BSO done for severe endometriosis. My doc said to the assisting doc, maybe I will give her lupron to get rid of the rest. I had it so bad it was all over. We suspect it may have even gone up towards my upper abdomen as every month I was getting pain there. Thought I even had pancreatitis but realized it was only when I had my period that I had this pain.

Well apparently the assisting doc said - she's gonna hate you! What did he mean by that? I guess it is because of the sweats and stuff. Any other things I should know about?

They said since I don't have my ovaries anymore that it will eventually stop happening. She was just trying to speed it along.

For me the side effects weren't bad. It pretty much puts your body through menopause. I had hot flashes and sweats. Since I was on the shots for an extensive time I took calcium pills to offset the possible bone/calcium loss.
The great benefit was that it reduces my fibroids tremendously. To the point to where it was non-existent.

Hello..I was diagnosed with Endometriosis and Adenomyosis in 2005. I have had pelvic pain for years prior to the diagnosis. Most of it started after I had my tubes tied in 2002. I blame that on everything. One doctor that I went to started me on Lupron. I only did 2 shots. I could not do anymore. It made me really mean. I couldn't stand to feel the way I felt. I am now scheduled to have a Lapry Hyster done on Jan 18.

My current Lupron shot didn't get to my doctor's office on time due to the crazy weather and I'm having what feels like labor pains the cramping is so bad. Guess I answered my own question then, huh?

To the previous poster, Lupron rarely "gets rid" of anything, it just supresses it while you're taking it.

I had Lupron injections for six months prior to my hyst (I was very anemic and all other options to stop my bleeding had failed) and other than a few mild hot flashes, had no problems with it at all.
