Thank God you has the surgery, sounds like your doing well and have a very positive attitude. I bought one of the
Abdominal binder from hyster sisters
And I love it, I can sleep on my side, and it really has helped, for the gas I've been drinking fennel tea and chamomile tea
The gas x chewable didn't help me
Im So happy your doing well. Have a nice relaxing day

Just had my first stools last night and this morning and all were very loose. I'm assuming that's normal because of the colace. I was just so relieved I didn't care what form it came out!! And didn't require any pushing either.
Strange sensations as the gas is still moving through me. My ribs are kinda sore when I breathe deeply, and just as I'm about to pass some gas I can feel my internal stitches more. Hope this is all part of the normal healing process. Hardly spotting at all so I guess all is going well.

My mom insisted I drink one tbsp of olive oil mixed with orange juice. Old time remedy from my great grandma. Like you said it's a bowel movement..and I didn't have to push!

Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Jul 31-Aug 06,2017
Hi Ladies. Sorry for the long note. Had my surgery on Monday morning. Got off hydro morphena to norco then motrin by Tuesday afternoon. Dranks lots of water Monday and dr said to drink less Tuesday as tumy was swelling. Took shower wednesday morning and passed gas and feeling fine. Had been walking since Monday night.
Wednesday afternoon started feeling nauseous and it's been off and on since then. Even though i passed gas (15x before first BM on Thursday morning), i continue to have gas. Been taking gas x since coming home on Thursday afternoon and had about 25 small leaky BMs since then. They come on quickly, and just keeping it real, I have pooped in my underwear, on bathroom floor and in bed more times than in the toilet! I have disposable bed pads in bed, on floor next to bed, and on bathroom floor. Im wearing mesh panties from hospital with long pads and disposable adult underwear over those, which acts like a binder. Can't keep water down and nothing tastes good. Having hard time even getting advil down and keeping it down without gagging or puking (which real hurts my tummy). I've been having regular hot tea and applesauce and a popsicle. I've never burped or hiccupped this much in my life! Otherwise, incision pain and mobility is good. Talked w gyny/surgeon and GP and both drs said take one day at a time. Maybe I will try chamomile or fennel tea for the gas. Where should I send my brother, my caregiver through Sunday, out to get that?
Hope all of your recoveries are going well.
Thank you.

A very warm welcome to ((SarahJBowman)) ((Mathetria)) and ((Steampunkflux)). We are excited you are up and about and able to join us. Right now your most important job is to take care of you. Be sure to follow your post op instructions (no pulling, no pushing, no bending and no lifting over a gallon of milk), drink lots and keep ahead of your pain. You only have one chance to heal right the first time.
Sarah . . . we are so happy you are feeling up to being with us. I am so glad your doctor was able to discover and diagnose your “pelvic congestion syndrome.” I truly do understand your need to get back to work asap. Please, pretty please give yourself permission to take the time your body needs to heal. Your surgery was very major and this recovery is different from any other I have ever had. It is not a “push harder” recovery but it is a “rest harder” one. So glad your mom is there to help you.
Hi Mathetria . . . it is good to meet you dear. I’m so glad you were able to purchase the recommended underwear . . . the compression often can be very helpful. I know you are torn between taking your meds and the chance of being constipated. It is important to keep your pain under control . . . many doctors recommend taking ibuprofen half way between your pain meds. You would be able to take less of the hydrocodone and still control your pain. Keep drinking lots and lots and lots.
So glad you could join us dear. I am sorry you are having trouble with Insomnia
. . . try to avoid caffeine, extended blue lights from computers/phones/tablets, etc.
I have a congenital bleeding disorder so I only understand a little bit of recovery with a chronic condition. My prayers are with you dear. Here are a few articles that may give you some helpful information.
Chronic Health Concern & Hysterectomy
Fibro & Hysterectomy
Fibro & Hysterectomy Recovery
MS and Hysterectomy
Love to all of you . . . remember you are not alone.

((Coatlicue)) ((Hot_chocolate)) and ((Lucinda.Jones)). It is so good to meet you my dears. Don’t be shy . . . please jump right in and meet these wonderful ladies. There is no dumb question and we will be talking about almost everything. And . . . where else can you go and discuss having a BM.. .
Coatlicue . . . I am rejoicing with you about no more back pain.. . I’m sorry you needed so much fluid . . . your body will get rid of it soon, honest. The navel incision site is often where more work is done. Watch your incision site for any signs of infection (red, warm to the touch, etc). Try not to do things that will pull on the area. You may find that ice or heat will help. So glad you were able to purchase a binder . . . the compression can be very helpful. Some ladies have found wearing the biker type shorts also gives support.
Hi Hot_chocolate. Sending you my dear . . . I know it has to be difficult being a single mom with responsibilities and trying to recover. Please, please be careful about driving so soon, especially while taking pain meds. I am very much of a push through person and I know it is hard not to do too much, especially with a high pain tolerance. The temptation will be big for you . . . pushing and doing too much could set you back and add on to your recovery. Let your kids know that you really need your help right now, please. This is not a “push harder” recovery but it is a “rest harder” one.
Lucida.Jones . . . I am so glad you are doing well. Even though you are feeling fine, your body does need to heal. Doing things like laundry right now (with the bending and lifting involved) will pull on those areas that are trying to heal. A dvTH is still major surgery dear. I am so sorry for your cancer diagnosis . . . praying for you, especially that no further treatment will be needed. Please keep us posted.
Much love to you my dears . . . be sure to get lots of rest.

ButterflySis . . . sending you . I am sorry that you are having so much trouble with diarrhea dear. Did your GYN or GP give you any suggestions to help with it. It is very important to keep your body hydrated . . . keep doing what you are doing. When it settles down a bit, you could try smoothies or protein shakes . . . you need the nutrients to heal well. If this doesn’t improve, please don’t hesitate to get back in touch with your doctors.
The fennel tea would probably be at a health food store or a grocery store that has more organic/natural products.
Love to you dear . . . remember we are here for you.
