6 days post op hysterectomy.......feeling pretty good
I had robotic assisted total laparoscopic hysterectomy with bilateral saplings- oophorectomy last Wednesday. I found this site last night and it has so many wonderful posts with such helpful info. My nature is to NOT stop or slow down but this surgery has slowed me down and I have done exactly what the doctor ordered. I am doing fine but want to do stuff and know I can't. Posts I read made me realize this and harm I can do to my insides so I plan to continue to rest and read posts on this site to keep me chilling out. I got 6 weeks approved from doctor to stay home but she said if I feel good I can go back in 4 weeks. I told my boss I would be back in 4 weeks for sure. Should I take 5-6 weeks off or go back at 4 if I'm feeling good? I have a desk job but sitting over the computer gets to my back. I'm not lazy at all but want to recover completely. Any thoughts?

Katobo I am happy to hear that you are doing pretty good thus far. The funny thing about this surgery; it makes us slow down, even when we think we can do more than we should. The most important thing is to listen to your body, it's in control and will surely let you know. One of the hardest things for us to do is to slow down. Just keep reminding yourself that you just had major surgery, when that word lazy pops into your head. You had an organ removed and your body needs time to heal.
As for going back to work at 4 weeks, I would say play it by ear. See how you are feeling, how well you have healed and if your doctor releases you.
For now, don't stress on it. Go easy on yourself and Just relax and let your body heal
