Nine days post-op and still swollen at incision ~ anyone else?

hi all..
I am 9 days post-op. Had SAH on 2/19 and am feeling good and I think I am recovering well. Question though...most of my swelling has gone down, but at my incision it is still swollen and is as if I have a "shelf" or "speed bump" at the incision. Is this normal? I know it is early, but I am just curious.

Thanks!!!!

Nine days post-op and still swollen at incision ~ anyone else?

Hi Sister,
I am at 9 days post-op as well. I have swelling by my incision as well. My speed bump is directly above my incision, however, it may because I already had a little fat there before surgery. From what I have read, we will be experiencing swelling for awhile. If your incision itself is swollen, I would contact the doctor. May be a problem then.
Take care, good to hear you are doing well.

I only have the swelling on part of the left side, like a little pocket of air or fluid about 2-3 inches in length. Also when I touch the skin there it is numb, but I can feel it when I touch the skin above the rest of the incision. The healing process is strange.

I am 16 days post op and still have the swelling also. This is normal - we have just had trauma to that area. It will go down on its own.

I, too, have a speed bump across to top of my incision. The Dr. told me that it was a hematoma (a collection of blood). I wrote post but only one person responded and explained it to me.

My Dr. told me that it would reabsorb into my body with the passing of time. My speed bump doesn't hurt, not hot to the touch and is getting softer but the entire area is still numb though. I am 3 weeks post op and it has went down a little but not much. It could take weeks or even months before it goes down all the way.

I would love to hear how I can get rid of it quicker. My stomach was never super flat before but I don't need new speed bumps on my stomach! :-)
