Did anyone go back to work at 4 weeks?

My GYN said if my job was flexible I could return to work at 4 weeks, otherwise it would be 6 weeks. I do medical transcription and can set my own hours up to a point. I will be sitting and typing. I had a LAVH and RSO. I am feeling much better but my GP said he thought I should wait until 6 weeks because my body needs time to heal. I see my GYN next Wednesday and am thinking maybe I should just go back part time until the 6 week mark. Wanted to see what you all thought. Thanks,

Ann

Did anyone go back to work at 4 weeks?

I went back to work full time at 3 weeks (TAH/BSO), mostly for financial reasons. I have a stressful desk job, so I was'nt on my feet alot. When I mentioned going back at 3 weeks my gyn suggested part time - her main concern was with fatigue. I really did'nt have a problem with fatigue at the time so I went back full time at 3 weeks. It was'nt too bad, but as the day progressed, so did the size of my stomach. I came home from work and rested the rest of the day. DH fixed dinner or everyone fended for themselves.
Everyone heals differently and I was fortunate not to have any problems. I hope your return to work is a smooth one.

I am going back at 5 weeks. I could have gone back at 4 weeks though. I have at desk job. My only restriction is no heavy lifting.

Good luck!

Did anyone go back to work at 4 weeks?

Yup, also half time and also for economic reasons. There was a LOT of fatigue (made worse by the fact that DH was sick in the hospital for the first one of those weeks) but we made it.

Did anyone go back to work at 4 weeks?

I went back to work at 3 & 1/2 weeks post-op. after a TVH and rectocele/cystocele repair. I had been walking 2 miles a day and not napping so I decided to go back. I am a teacher and spend most of the day on my feet. It has gone pretty well but I do start to drag towards the end of the week. I was 6 weeks post-op. yesterday.

Thanks for all the replies. It is so helpful to hear from others. I live real close to where I work and can come home and rest if I need to. I guess I will see how it goes.

Did anyone go back to work at 4 weeks?

I am so glad you asked this question. I was just going to post the same thing. My post-op appt is Monday, Oct 3rd. I am feeling pretty good. I usually get pretty wiped out by the end of the day. I am torn on whether or not to go back to work. I also have a desk job as a loan officer so all I do is sit and type and shuffle paperwork. The most physical my job gets is getting up to make copies. I think I am ready to go back I just don't know if I should start part time or full time. I have plenty of time built up to take the full 6 weeks (b/c I never take off) but I don't want to use all of my sick time up and have to start over. I will be 4 weeks on Oct 5th. Thank you for posting your concern. I needed to hear the answers as well. Good luck with your decision. God bless!!

Did anyone go back to work at 4 weeks?

I went back at 2 weeks for strictly 4 hrs a day (Dr's orders) and then I went home and slept all afternoon.

At 3 weeks, I started to add a little bit each day. I worked until I was tired. Each day varied, but by the end of the week I found myself there almost a whole day.

At 4 weeks, I'm doing fine a full-time. I still spend the evenings on the couch resting and still find that there are days when I do too much, but I'm finding there really is a light at the end of this tunnel.

Did anyone go back to work at 4 weeks?

I work in a school library and I went back at 3 weeks. I did nothing when I got home, the family did everything, they were wonderful. I am 7 weeks now and feel fine, fatigue almost completely gone, just the usual what with 3 kids and a job etc. I'm still avoiding lifting but otherwise all is back to normal.
