Anyone have Physical Therapy after 6 week post hysterectomy appointment?

I had a TVH with A&P repairs about 5 weeks ago. I had my 6 week appointment almost a little early, because my doc would be out on the day I have to go back to work. She said I am healing fine, and cleared me to resume normal activities next week. She also recommended physical therapy. I was wondering if anyone else went through physical therapy, and if they thought it helped. My first session involved Kegels, and I am trying to wrap my head around what else they could do/recommend, because I could do those at home for free! Lol!

I never even though of physical theory. Are you going for kegle exercise! Thats awesome lol. I would think you could do those at home.

I have such sore things now, I have no idea what's going on with that. I'd love theopy on those.

Re: Anyone have Physical Therapy after 6 week post op appointment?

I saw a u tube video from a physical therapist in australia on the correct way to use the potty after prolapse repairs. It was interesting and a bit funny....but I tried it and it worked. Lol not sure what else there could be???

Re: Anyone have Physical Therapy after 6 week post op appointment?

I've gone to a pelvic floor physical therapist before and will again soon because of my pelvic floor being beaten to heck by the birth of my first son. You will be surprised what they do. Biofeedback, muscle exercises, etc. So much! It helped me a lot and I highly recommend it.

I also did PT after my surgery. Started around 3 months postop. It did help quite a bit. I would also recommend it. My PT consisted of being taught exercises to do at home and internal manipulation of muscles and nerves. Hurt a little but the end result was good!

Re: Anyone have Physical Therapy after 6 week post op appointment?

Wow, you're lucky to have a surgeon who is pro-active enough to recommend PT. I'll bet a lot of hyster patients would benefit from session or two to get back in the swing of things. A friend of mine who has unfortunately seen her share of cancer in her family had warned me that most surgeons don't think of PT. So when I suspected I had a bit of lymphedema after having lymph nodes out, I pushed my pcp to send me to a PT. I was so glad that she did. I only had one session but I learned a lot and she took baseline measurements. I think most of the docs are so focused on their specialty that they don't think of the impact that the hyster has on the whole body. Hope you are feeling good as new!
