surgery in 9 days....

I am having surgery on the 28th. I am going to 31 on the 20. I cannot believe how helpful this site has been to me. I have had so many questions and most of them have gotten answered. I just have one more question. When they do my surgery, she is leaving one of my ovaries. Will that one ovary produce enough hormone, or will I still be a little out of wack? What is it like to ovulate and not have a period?

Just curious. mnmisspriss2002

good luck

I can't answer your question, maybe someone in post-op can. Also you can do a search on this site at the top and see what others have experienced.
Just wanted to say good luck, and I will be thinking of you-I hope! I am going in Tuesday.
This is a great site, give it time and you will get your questions answered.

surgery in 9 days....

One ovary *should* produce enough hormones, however, sometimes the ovaries do shut down for a short period of time after surgery from all the rough handling and decreased blood flow during surgery. If that happens, you may need some type of supplement for a month or two until your remaining ovary starts functioning again.

As for what it's like to ovulate and not have a period, it's not too bad, really. After my TAH two years ago, my PMS was really bad for a few months, then it evened out, and now I can barely tell where I am in my cycle. But not having a period, that's a blessing!!!

Best wishes and lots of s,
