Hysterectomy:
Ovaries: Kept 1 or both

D&C and hysteroscopy yesterday.
Well I had my procedure and I am amazed to have absolutely no pain whatsoever and only slight bleeding. I needed the reassurance of seeing my consultant gyn/onc in order to be able to believe that they had actually done something! He said it looked normal, but pathology will take another 5 to 7 days.
My new gyn/onc is wonderful. He respects my desire to conserve my uterus if possible: this means that in the event of his recommending a hysterectomy, I will be able to trust him and go through with it.
I am now in the weird situation of being symptom-free and feeling absolutely fine, but still have a persistently high CA125 (now 124 down from 306). This is the main concern. Gyn/onc advised that testing now would be pointless and a false postive high number was so likely due to recent procedure. I go back for repeat ultrasound scan and tumour marker tests in eight weeks.
I think the art of living with this is to be able to put it all to the back of one's mind, trust the doctors (and thank God they are such good ones), then carry on living life to the full. This isn't easy but I am getting better at it!
Jane.
