Re: I feel all alone

I logged on today because I was feeling pretty alone myself and I came across this thread and feel very blessed that there are all these women just a click away that know how I feel and can give such solid advice...thank you! The comment about friends thinking you should be back to normal a couple of months after made me laugh out loud...heck, mine were wondering why I wasn't turning cartwheels at two weeks! I told my husband that the only way I could only describe what was going on with me is that I feel traumatized. Once the pain diminished, there was the overwhelming realization that I am now missing part of me, while recovering you can't do even the simplest things you used to do and most of us are now looking at different bodies in the mirror. It's tough, but we can help each other through it!!

Re: I feel all alone

I am so feeling similar to all of you right now. Even though my ovaries were left intact, I can tell that they are not functioning at full capacity right now. I am having sleepless nights, hot flashes, and anxiety. It all seemed much worse for me when everyone went back to work and school...I am a very active professional, so this "resting" has been a real challenge for me! I have to admit it--I am feeling lonely and anxious right now. I know that this too shall pass. I was feeling so awful, I was so happy to be having my hysterectomy done...now, not so sure. I am only a week out of my SAH , so I need to give it time. I am generally a very optimistic person, but I feel like I am losing my marbles.

That sounds very normal. I felt that way in the beginning too. Hang it there. It does pass.

Re: I feel all alone

To Molly, I felt very much like you do. I know that laying around all day can be tough when you're used to being an active person. You're not losing your marbles. You're just very early into your recover. You're giving yourself time to heal properly which is the best gift you can give yourself right now.
In the early days of my recovery I spent a lot of time on this website along with reading, watching TV and movies and going for walks. The weeks pass by and before you know it you feel so much better. By Valentine's Day you'll be a new woman.

Re: I feel all alone

Yes indeedy. I also feel like I'm dealing with a new body, and it's not looking too cute with this 8" scar down my stomach. This is a very traumatic event to happen to us, physically and emotionally, and unless you've been through it, you have no idea. And each one of us are different and dealing with it in different ways. Take care.
