Total Abdominal Hysterectomy on Tuesday (3/11)

The closer its getting the more my anxiety level is going up. I suffer from anxiety anyway. Oh my goodness. I'm starting to go thru the what if's now. I know I shouldn't do that. Like what if something goes wrong. I do trust my doctor. But there's alway that chance. Or maybe side effects to anesthesia. But I need to get this done!! I'm so tired of dealing with these horrible pains of endometriosis and cysts for 20 years now!! Sorry for ramblings: /

It's not really about what you "should" or "shouldn't" do. It's entirely natural to be nervous and anxious before surgery, so don't beat yourself up about being so!

I found it useful to focus my nerves on getting ready for my recovery period. When I got nervous, I scrubbed, I did laundry, I went out and bought (more) groceries and supplies for my recovery period. I bought so much stuff that I didn't have to buy rolled oats, cat kibble or toilet papers for six *months* after surgery! But it was a harmless way of working out my nerves and anxiety.

Yep I was like SurprisedInNB I shopped and shopped. Supplies for the hospital. I packed and re packed my hospital bag probably about 5 or 6 times. Groceries, I spent 2 days making freezer food. So when I got out of the hospital hubby just need to take out of the freezer and into the oven. Clean and clean, and clean. I did my spring/fall cleaning in January. My house was spotless when I came home. To bad I can't say the same thing now. Still recovering and learning to deal with dirty floors. lol Keep yourself busy is my strategy for not stressing.

Hi, I couldn't charge round doing things because I was in so much pain,but I love crafting so kept all that out and when I felt up to it just let my mind go into my own little creative world.Its natural to be apprehensive.best wishes for Tue.

Yes same here aprilmoon. I've been hurting so bad with my endometriosis and also I have fibromyalgia. So I have been trying to stay busy but I have to take a lot of breaks. Also my kids keeps me busy

Sorry you're in so much pain,not much longer to have to put up with it.

I'm right there with you. House is shining and even the poor dog is hiding from me now in case he's next. I went thru the "what if's" over the last few days and have decided to just stop myself and focus on all the great things that are going to happen as a result of this surgery; no more pain, no more periods, no more explaining to rude strangers that I am NOT pregnant, no more feeling like crap for three weeks out of every month. You are going to be a new woman after this!! We all are!!!! No need to be sorry for rambling, isn't that why we're all here???!!! big hugs sis xxxxx
