What is normal discharge?

Hi.

My hysterectomy was planned LAVH but it ended up being abdominal. Things have been pretty much as expected, I think.

I have just noticed today, (4 weeks and 2 days post op) that I have a discharge that looks brownish yellow. Is this normal? Could it be the stitches dissolving? I don't have pain or burning or a fever or even a nasty odor. Just this brownish yellow discharge.

Anyone else find this at just past 4 weeks?

Thanks!

What is normal discharge?

Dear Scaredy Cat,
I have a brownish to rust colored discharge that's been going on for awhile (now almost 4 weeks since TAH). Last week my surgeon said it was normal. Today I saw stitches come out for the first time. It did turn more yellowish with the coming of the stitches.

What is normal discharge?

geniemiami,

Thank you so much for your fast response! I am relieved that your surgeon said this is normal. I hope your recovery goes well and that you feel 100% real soon. PM me sometime if you want to compare recovery notes.

What is normal discharge?

Hi scaredy_cat
Just wanted to add that it sounds pretty normal to me too. I had similar at 5 weeks. The brownish stuff is old blood and the yellow color is probably from stitches dissolving. If you start to notice a bad odor you'll want to have it checked to make sure there isn't any infection.

Thanks! I am very glad to hear that it sounds normal. When something "different" happens "down there" I tend to get worried. You all are wonderful.

Thanks again -- Very much, for the replies.
