low blood count

Hi sisters. My recovery has been pretty good, and I have been pampering the princess like I should. Had a physical with my own family doctor, and through routine bloodwork, she said that my blood count is low, and is having me re-tested. She said even if I bled a lot from the surgery, that my blood should have regenerated by now. Anyone else have this problem? I am going back to work on monday, and am really nervous about the physical aspect of my job. I really don't want to get another hernia.

low blood count

Hi Monne,

I went into surgery anemic from pre-surgery blood loss and left the hospital with a 7.2 count. I think if you were anemic when you left and weren't supplementing this last month, you could still have low counts. Maybe ask your doctor about iron supplements? As for going back to work, I understand your concern. I'm 8 days post-op and can't believe the toll the surgery took on my energy and ability to motate. If your employer knows of your surgery, maybe they'll acommodate you in some way to prevent a setback. Good luck to you!
