rectocele question

Right after my hysterectomy...I had some issues w/ my bm's. I would wipe and wipe and deem myself clean..only to go back the next time to find there's more to wipe! This finally died down a few weeks ago but now is back again. Does anyone think that something happened to the repair or is this common until healing is fully complete? I told my doc about the pressure I've been feeling and they said to take it easy again...so that's what I'm doing. My bladder is STILL giving me pains but I *think* (dont wanna curse myself) that the Imipramine is working.

rectocele question

I developed a rectocele because of the hyst. It is almost 6 weeks and I see a pelvic floor specialist next week to try and avoid surgery. It does not bother me too much but I have to use my finger to push on it to complete my bowel movement (never thought I'd be seeing myself say that!) I have not been cleared for sex so still need to see how much this will bother me and if I want to risk fixing it!

Sees long enough after surgery that I would be wondering what was up
too! Keep us posted. I am so torn about what to do with my complication and all this info really helps!

I had a repair done (which is what I thought a rectocele was...*blush*) ...I wonder if the repair has not held?

rectocele question

I had some problems after my TAH (still having them a bit) and was sent to a colo/rectal specialist. He said I have a bit of a rectocele but not enough to cause problems or worry about. I wonder too is that is why I have to wipe so much...seems like a little more comes out after I "think" I'm done or something.

rectocele question

I have found that I have also had this as well.

I did not have a rectocele or any repairs to that area and was having some minor difficulty with this prior to surgery.

I did have endo that was growing around my lower bowels-close to the rectum, according to my Dr.-do not know if that was contributing to the problems or not.

It is kind of like a leaking kind of feeling. You feel like you are clean and then awhile later, you discover you are not. I do not know what to do about it.

rectocele question

My advice...is use those bowel wet wipes...NOT baby ones as they aren't meant for flushing.

Pelvic exercises will help in some cases...as I am noticing after 4 weeks of exercises I am doing much better with the Whoopsie I'm still poopsie.

Here is one my therapist gave me. It's just like Kegels where you contract your muscles as if stopping urine and stool...hold for 10 seconds..but DO NOT HOLD YOUR BREATHE...this is the important part. You need to bring H2O to that area..and you can't do it holding your breathe...then relax...all the way. My therapist says most ladies after surgury don't relax all the way...and thus the end of the stool gets retained and not wiped away. So it's important as tightening to learn to relax. I have to do it with visualizing....while I do the 10 sec squeese....I say outload...sine it then proves I am breathing....hold it, hold it, hold it....or something like that...and then I do a deep cleansing breath like LAMAZE breathing and say RELAX...lower, lower, lower. If your mouth is open...guess what your bottom is too.

So my wiping advice is to use wet wipes and relax as you clean...by breathing and visualizing your pelvic muscles are relaxed. Any of you with PT coverage on your insurance should see if you have one in your area that does PELVIC FLOOR because my therapist is an Angel and is the one really helping me recover.
