Recovery? Pain at just over 4 weeks post hysterectomy
I had a full laparoscopic hysterectomy just over four weeks ago. One of the incisions became infected and required two courses of antibiotics - still really quite sore and not healed. I have had a little vaginal bleeding along the way. Been lucky in that I have not experienced typical menopausal symptoms. Today I have quite severe pelvic / back pain and a little more pain - is this part of the healing process?

Recovery? Pain at just over 4 weeks post hysterectomy
Katie_38, to HysterSisters, and to our recovery forum!
The pelvic/back pain could indicate a UTI or a kidney infection, likely caused by the antibiotics you took indiscriminately killing off the good bacteria in there. Other signs to watch for include frequent sudden urges with little production; cloudy, bloody, or strong smelling urine. I would recommend seeing your doctor about this; if an infection is diagnosed, then I would recommend a probiotic supplement, including the strain Lactobacillus acidophilus, to restore these good bacteria. Also,be sure to join your recovery thread, where you can connect with your surgery week sisters, who may be dealing with similar issues. Here's hoping you'll have this figured out soon, so you can move forward with your recovery!
