What about your regular meds?
I usually take a ton of supplements, which my doc has told me I HAVE to be off of two weeks prior to surgery. I'm off all of them now except for the magnesium and calcium. I'll be off those in a week.
My meds are few, and I know I'll need to take some of them-- I only take a HBP med - Benicar, Zantac for reflux, and 2 thyroid meds. I know I'll let my surgeon know about them. They'll probably get them from their in-patient pharmacy, so I will definitely ask.
Thanks.

I was on a mild diuretic as blood pressure management. I was told to take mine with the smallest possible swallow of water on the morning of surgery, and I brought my medication, in the prescription bottle. I took it each morning when the nurse was present, and she did put it on my chart that I had taken it.
It all depends on what your hospital's procedures and policies are.

I have noticed a few of you take thyroid meds, does anyone know the relation between thyroid issues and "girl issues".
Does anyone wonder if they are related?

I know that I have seen lots of references to thyroid and "girt stuff " connection on the site - hoipe someone will fill you in.
The nurse called me the day before surgery about meds ( the dr. had already stopped vitamin E, advil, etc.) and told me just to take my neuro ones and bring my asthma inhaler. She sd. not to bring anything to the hospital, where the nurses kept asking me if I had brought them! Esp. GasX and other things that are much more $ throught the hospital.. I would call the surgery nursing station to get the real scoop.
More interesting, though, is that i am taking only a very few of my former meds almost two weeks post op! Will add back as needed, if needed. Apparently adhesions caused a lot of shortness of breath, etc - I wa seeing a speech therapist becuase my voice was so off and on! Who knew....
Bottom line is that it will all go well, and this will seem like a much smaller issure soon! Then you develp a pillow and HS website addiction!
Best of luck,
Christa

Funny that you say that. My doc seems to think that once the pain is gone, my body will quit producing such high cortisol levels and the weight will finally drop and so will my blood pressure. He's also hopeful the thyroid will return to normal. I hope so. I'd like to not take the meds any longer or the ton of supplements! As I lose weight my reflux should also subside. Oh, how I hope it does!

What about your regular meds?
I gave a list of my meds at the pre-op, and the nurse told me they'd give me all I need (so not to bring my own in) except for my ashma inhalors.
I too hope to cut down on meds after this. The pills I take for insomnia for one.
I have thyroid problems too, but my doc told me not to worry about the surgery as it will not affect my thyroids. Ummm, I'll still keep an eye on things on that front too.
Good luck everyone!!

13 days post op and in my jeans!
I cannot believe it, but I had to go to my DDs first basketball game and I wore a pair of jeans I haven't worn in the last 2 months, at least....miracles do happen. Still not needing the meds (maybe one allergy one soon), had no expectation of this. AND I wore my regular briefs - no granny undies. Had work done at house today and tomorrow and went out for supplies for a friend, so I am going to take a nap!!!!
Who knew! I didn't have definite thyroid diagnosis, but they have been playing with the idea for years, so maybe that is it.
I should also be clear that I am not (and don't have a scale, so don't know if I have) trying to lose weight. Not terribly hungry though, so just trying to be fairly healthy about what does go in.
And ice cream does have a lot of good stuff in it, right ?
Off to PJ land,
Christa
