melasma after hysterectomy

Is it common to have melasma after a hysterectomy when you have kept your ovaries? I have mine, so my hormones should be fine. I have a problem this summer with melasma, though. I haven't seen a doctor yet, but I know that's what this is. I have a friend that works in a doctor's office and she is getting me samples of the cream made to treat it. I have also had breast pain on just one side for a few weeks. Has anyone heard of this?

melasma after hysterectomy

The only thing I know about it is that it usually has to do with hormones and that a lot of women get dark blotches on their faces during pregnancy. I had it on my forehead during pregnancy and was told to protect my face with sunscreen or a hat. It faded away a few months after giving birth. Your hormones may be a little out of balance. I wish I knew more....
Happy 4th everyone.

melasma/brown spots on face

I came home from the hospital with several new medications (ibuprofen 600 mg., estradiol, also a new blood pressure med). On reading the pharmacy print-outs that came with these meds, I learned that each one of them can cause sun sensitivity and spotting. The estradiol can cause spotting even without exposure to sunlight... and the exposure makes the spots darker! Charming, huh

So...Be Sure to Cover Up -- sunscreen, hat, etc.!!!!!

This cream is called tri-luma. hope it works.

I hate this because I love getting sun on my face! (as unhealthy as it is).
