LSH Questions
I had an LSH over a year ago.
~hospital stay-overnight due to getting sick on the anethesia
~swelly belly- 3 months in reality. it would flare up at night.
~back in the world- two weeks
~cleared for intercourse- six weeks
Your incisions will be small and tender. Especially your belly button. I've had 3 lap surgeries and the belly button is very tender. Wear a stomach binder. I asked for one in the hospital. It helps alot. You can place ice packs on your incisions and the binder will hold it in place. After a few months your incisions will be hardly noticable, you will need to search for them. Good luck with your surgery!!!

LSH Questions
<<Your incisions will be small and tender. Especially your belly button.>>
Mine never bothered me...the one that did was the one on my left side. I also had a mole removed at the time of surgery at the site of the left incision. It still bothers me from time to time. My Dr. thinks it is the nerve endings coming back to life.
The one in my navel never bothered me, although in the first few days, I did sleep with my underwear pulled lower to keep my navel exposed to the air.
My steri strips stayed on for a long time too...about two weeks!

LSH Questions
Hi! Welcome!
I had a LSH - kept ovaries and cervix too.
I left the hospital 22 hours after the surgery. I was able to get up and walk around and was looking forward to sleeping in my own bed! I was on Tylenol only about 8 hours after the surgery... It was painful - but not worse than a really bad period for me and I hate narcotics! Took the 8 hour tylenol every 4 hours for the first day - then every 6 - then every 8 - and about 5 days later I didn't need it on a constant basis...
I was off work for 4 weeks. I also have a mostly sitting job (administrative assistant). I found after 4 weeks I still did not have all my energy back. My doc wrote me a note to return to work part time for the first 3 weeks... After that I was on vacation anyhow. Of course the first week back was the busiest - but I tell you - by 1:00 (5 hours out of my 7 hour day) I was pretty pooped. And as someone said - you won't get a medal by staying any longer!
Wasn't supposed to drive for 2 weeks. I started a day short of it... Having a smallish pillow between the seatbelt and my belly sure helped.
Ahhh - the lovely swelly belly... Just for fun - I forgot to do this and I regret it... Take your measurements now... Morning just when you're up and have been to the potty, and then night - right before bed... Do it for a few days and jot down the numbers. Measure your waist and around your hips. Do it again if your Aunt Flo comes to visit - just to compare. It will be a good starting point to know exactly how much swelly belly you have. I wish I had done it pre-op. I'm not svelte - at all... But I also had to buy new bottoms (fold down waist bands are the most comfy for me!)... I have about a 3 inch difference between morning and night... So something that feels ok when I get dressed in the morning feels pretty tight by the end of the day...
Good luck to you and keep in touch!
