Mixed emotions

Wow! I'm filled with positive & negative emotions! Found out Monday that I have cysts on both ovariers, uterine polyps, enlarged uterus , + adenomyosis....with a family history of uterine, cervical & breast cancer...so at 45 who needs all this - scheduled for TAH & BSO on April 29th. I'm so glad I have found this site. I'm working on getting my house in order (literally) + getting everything I can think of done at work. I've got lists out the wazoo!!! But, I appreciate so much the helpful tips in the pre-op section.....gonna clean "my room" from top to bottom today! Keeping busy seems to help with the jitters/anxiety and knowing how much better I'm gonna feel and just imagine this summer with no periods!!! Yeehaw!!! Keep the tips coming....it's really is great to get info from those who have "been there - done that"!!

Hi Janed,

You have a really positive attitude which helped me. I'm 3 weeks from TAH, and I'm very glad I cleaned my house and got things in order before my surgery. Yes, it does help take the jitters away. One thing you may want to check with your Dr. about is the fact that you have breast cancer in your family, and all the controversy about HRT causing breast cancer.

Remember, you are never alone!

Hi, Janed.

It was good to read your note. I, too, am 45 yrs old and have had similar complaints. I still have another test to do on Monday and am waiting for other test results (which I'm hoping come back negative or normal) and I'm scheduled for surgery on 4/17. Frankly, it can't come soon enough.

I'm really impressed, too, with all you sisters who are doing so much cleaning! I feel like a slob! But you know, feelings aren't facts. I do have some things slated over the next two days to help prepare meals for next week and after I come home. My poor belly is a little tender these days and I just don't want to overdo it. My Mom is coming for a few days after I get home and that will be good. (She's a good cleaner! Am I a b**** or what! lol)

My mother-in-law also offered to come up for the surgery and I thanked her quickly but said that it wasn't necessary. She's a darling but I'd want to put a bullet in my head if I were *impaired* after surgery and had to deal with her at the same time! Yeoww!

Anyway, best of luck with your surgery. I love the fact that there's a calendar on this website with everyone's sugery date. It makes it all very real and doable. And between now and then, I'm just taking things a day at a time.

God Bless!
