What can I really expect???

IDNTNO...I had a TAH and on day 11 I was at a formal military sweethearts ball.

Everyone heals differently and until the day comes you will not know if you are up to the party. I personnally believe that a lot of healing is mind over matter. I had wanted (and needed) my surgery since I was a teen and after my son was born things became much worse and knew that I really needed the surgery. However, due to my age, only one child, etc., etc., etc., the doctors did not agree that I needed the surgery. Finally after over a decade (since DS born) did I finally get my wish to have the surgery.

I feel that since I was mentally ready for the surgery, my healing went very well and quick.

As for the formal party that I attended at day 11. I knew of the party prior to my surgery and knew that I needed to attend with DH. DH needed to attend due to his position in the military. I had been off of pain meds for over a week before attending so I was able to have alcoholic bevarages with out mixing them with pain meds, and be coherent enough to enjoy my evening out. I had a loose fitting cocktail dress to wear and had tanned prior to the party so that I would not have to wear pantyhose with my incision. I had a great time and do not regret going to the party.

Again, we all heal differently and you may not know up until that day if you are feeling up to attending. I would suggest that if you do not feel up to attending, do not go to the party stay home and rest.

What can I really expect???

I am home two days, TVH , I am a little sore, but its my back that is killing me. Yes the gas is very painful,so I am trying to drink alot of water. I just cant wait unitl I can lay on my side and get a good nights sleep. I have resorted to sleeping in the recliner chair, for it is much more comfortable. I have tried the pillow between my legs, and still cant sleep. I am getting anxious to get back to work and resume life again. My hubby is driving me crazy with, "what can I do for you's" he is a sweetheart and doing everything, but ugh...I am not a sitter...
