Pillows for TVH???

Hey girls,

I had my LAVH on the 9th and I brought my own pillow with me to the hospital and loved having it. I didn't get a body pillow but I think it would really feel great at night. One thing I have been experiencing and didn't expect is low back pain especially throughout the night. I use a pillow to put behind me while I'm on my side, seems to help. So my thoughts are,
the more pillows the better.

Pillows for TVH???

Marshmallow ........That's what we are here for. Every little bit helps us. I am sure if you ask the nurse for an extra pillow they will give you one. Last year I had emergency surgery and was in for 10 days and I found the nurses were great (as long as you are nice to them, there should be no problem) I dont like to be babied, so I never bothered them excessively. When I did ask for something, they were very accommodating.

And thanks for the tip about the lip gloss/chapstick. Going to buy some along with my enema! and put that in my bag - good idea.....anybody have any ideas for sleeping at night, the thinking has been up in the middl eof the night and I cant fall back to sleep right away.....

Pillows for TVH???

Does anyone know where to find a pillow case for the travel pillow? I looked at Walmart yesterday, but I couldn't find one. Do they even make then?

Thanks, Daisydame

I don't. I inhereted a cute little pillow from my grandma and couldn't find a pillow case anywhere. I eventually made one. Do you sew or have a friend that sews? It is very easy to make. I used cute pink flannel material. Good luck!

Pillows for TVH???

I had a TVH and loved (and still do) having the body pillows... the hospital actually let me take home the disposable pillows too and they came in handy because they worked well for a little extra behind me or between my knees when I slept. Another thing I've really enjoyed having is the bed tray and a table mate II (it's like a TV tray). I also bought the tummy pillow from the hystersisters store and loved having that in the truck.

Wish all the upcoming surgery gals the best of luck on an uneventful castle stay and super speedy recoveries

Benadryl is great for insomnia. Start w/half a dose, though. You don't want to have the groggies the next day. A little bit of milk or turkey helps too, as it has tryptophan which induces drowsiness. Benadryl is safe and inexpensive. It does tend to dry you out though. If you are struggling w/constipation, take a stool softener too (if you are taking the Benadryl every night).

Pillows for TVH???

Hi, I am 5 days out today from a TAH and would be absolutely lost without the body pillow that I purchased for my recovery. My incision doesn't hurt at all, the insides are uncomfortable (mostly like a gassy bloated feeling). It is worth it to buy one for the 10-20 bux it may cost. The first few days home I didn't move much but now I find it harder to find a comfy position and lay it beside me while I am laying on my side, throw one leg over it and tuck it under my swelly belly. Hope all goes well for you.
