I'm home too

Surgery only took an hour (8-9am). I was in the recovery room for another hour and then they moved me to my room.

The nurses were wonderful. I had a pump with diladid in it for pain relief for about 24 hours.

I did not pee until 7pm and I did not have a BM until 7pm the next day. I did not feel like I had to use the restroom. I would just start to cramp alittle more and decided to try. Ask the nurse for Gas-X for the gas pains. They gave me stool softeners also which helped a lot.

I walked as soon as I was able and I drank a lot of water. It helped a lot.

I stayed in the hospital gown and robe. They gave me slipper socks.

The only thing I brought that I was glad to bring was a bowl of candy for the staff. I had mint, chocolate, and strawberry individually wrapped lifesavers in a bowl on my little table. Everytime someone came in I offered them a piece of candy (visitors, nurses, doc, housekeeping, room service, etc). They were all so greatful. It was fun and it made me smile. They are doing everything for you that I was glad to be able to do something for them.

My surgery was 4 days ago and I am feeling pretty good. I am a little crampy and very tired. I eat breakfast and take a nap. I take a shower and then I take a nap. I eat lunch and then take a nap. I drink lots and lots of water. I have been taking 600mg of motrin when I need it and maybe one pain pill a day so far.

The waiting is the hardest thing !!!

Good luck!

I'm home too

Let me add my voice to the chorus! (I can't wait until I can sing again. My voice had BETTER come back after surgery.)

Welcome home. Rest, rest, rest. I'm glad you're getting by for the most part without narcotics, too.....gives me hope.
