surgery on for Dec 6th

Hi Everyone, This board is a Godsend and very helpful,I have only read posts and info so far, but thoughtposting may help the fear factor.I am having the uterus removed as well as one ovary,I am 45 yrs, with a history of heart disease(heart attack age 36 and bypass),and two spine surgery's in 2004,lower spine and neck,I did go without a pap for 2 yrs,but in my defence I did not have any problems that way, well in mid August I was being treated at the pain clinic for lower back pain, I had recieved my 3rd round of steroid shots(6 to 4 joints)that night my back pain went up the chart and a spot the size of a a small cup (lower left abdomen)hurt real bad,and my period started, the pain in the abdomen eased up the next day ,but my period became a constant friend, got an appointment for obgyn,in oct,she took biopsy of cervix area and pap,the biopsy came back, neg for cancer and polyops, obgyn was happy as heck and said we would go ahead w/ultra sound, that came back as large cyst on right ovary, pap test was sent out cuz squtamus cells of unknown orgin.I asked why the left side hurt and she had no anserw,I was told that there was a couple of ways to deal w/ this, checks every 3 months ect... but the bleeding really was becoming a issue,I am the one who asked if we could just get the whole mess out,she said that was a option, I went and seen her this past week after all my other pre-op appts were taken care of, I asked why not a vaginal removal, and the short story was, abdomal incision allowed better visual, even though she said the cyst was simple and there was no need for that blood test for cancer possibility, gee's now I sit here the day before and have myself all scared about possible cancer.Any thoughts would be well received.Thankyou, Diana

Its very normal to be scared and think the worst.
Before I went into surgery I had pre-cancer. I was worried sick that the pathology report would show a cancer they couldnt find initially.
I worried for nothing. I was fine.
Im sorry you are having to go throught this, but, We are all here for you at this wonderful site !
