Help for a newbie

If i am posting this in the wrong place, please forgive me, but i have a lot of questions. I am 1 week post op LAVH today. The reason I had the surgery in the first place was because of prolapsed uterus. But over the last couple of days, im having the same sensation of "something is dropping out". Im not sure if ive overdid it, or if this is normal. Also, I got violently ill from the anesthesia. I am still having periods of dizziness, nausea, and extreme weakness, almost to the point of feeling faint. I am 35, but this was the only procedure i have ever had to put asleep for, so again, not sure if this is widely experienced or if i just happen to be the lucky one, lol. Also, still having terrible trouble with gas and BM. Any advice, answers, words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated. Oh, and I was able to keep my ovaries, but I have terrible hot flashes and chilling. Please, if anyone can shed some light on this, I would greatly appreciate it. One last thing, sorry. I am a single parent, and desperately need to return to work. I dont have a strenuous job, just sit at a desk all day. I wanted to see when everybody else was able to return to work. With already being off a week, with no sick or vacation time offered, im definitely in finacial freak out mode. Thanks for taking the time to read this excruciatingly long post.

Hi sec569,

Welcome, The one thing I can say about the nausia is the same thing has happened to me in the past. This time the obgyn prescribed a pill called Emend that helped so much plus the stuff they usually put in the IV. The Emend is a pill you take an hour before surgery. If you ever have surgery again please suggest that to your doctor. She said it was new and it really works.

Gas happens to everyone and it does pass in time. The BM's are a lot of work for some people. Lots of fruits and veggys and water. Stool softners help me too. When you can walking was one of the best things with extra water. I hope you get some relief from that. That is so frustrating.

I had my ovaries taken so can't be too much help with that. I'm really having trouble with balancing mine. It may take a while for yours to settle down. I hope that happens quickly for you. The hot flashes are tough.

Anyway, this is a great site. Hope you feel better soon and we are all here to help and listen. I will keep you in my prayers.

you may want to check with your Dr. to make sure all is well!
I had mad gas too, used alot of gasx..also cherrios, oatmeal
fruits and veggies helped get me going...a nurse in the hospital gave me a cup of hot ginger tea helped with the gas also...It may have been gingerale dont know for sure
i have seen on this site gingerale mixed with apple juice..
I buy the tea bags that say ginger and lemon..I add sugar and a little honey to it and it helps nausea and gas...I had trouble with dizziness for awhile..try not to make any sudden moves and drink plenty of water!but if your worried call the dr to make sure..thats what they are there for..keep us posted!
God Bless!

Thanks alot you guys. I really appreciate your input. As long as nothing gets worse, i have a follow up appointment on Thursday. I was checked this Tuesday because I ended up with a slight infection, but he said everything looked fine. Of course, the next day is when i starting having the feeling of fullness, lol. I will keep you all up to date, and again, thank you.
