spotting bright blood

Hey Everyone,

I'm 2 1/2 weeks post op and I have started spotting bright blood. It isn't alot, but why would I started spotting bright blood now. Since my surgery I've only had a little brownish discharge. Should I call the doctor?

Hi Teresa!

I think you should call the doctor. Any concerns you have during recovery are worthy of a call. My doctor's orders were to report any bright red bleeding.

Your doctor can decide if you need to be seen or not. Please post when you can to let us know what the doctor says.

Here is what I learned from my experience, if you see bright red blood, call. Usually they will see you and take a look. You may have pulled a stitch or the cuff is seperating a bit which they can take care of in the office. You definatly want to rule out internal stuff above the cuff.

Call. That is why they are there to assist you through this whole recovery process.

I hope you feel better soon.

My guideline has been to call about any new discharge or pain. When I was 2 1/2 weeks post-op, I had some new bleeding, an increase in discharge, and an increase in pain. They had me go right in, although it turned about to be nothing--just a normal variation of healing. You're better off to call.

Good luck!

I've called the doctor and he said that happens sometimes when you start healing on the inside. He said if it starts to get heavy like a period to call back. And if it is still bother me Monday to call the office and I might need to come in to see them. This not my doctor of 25 yrs., but he did help with the surgery.

Thanks,
Teresa

(((Teresa))), I'm glad you called, and thank you for letting us know. Isn't peace of mind a good thing? Take it easy and hopefully you've seen the last of the bright red blood.
