having some pain and scared/anyone with simular pain?

Hey All!

I am 10 days post op...not having fun yet! no dancing or jumping up and down YET! i know it will happen, but here is why i am posting...

I came home sunday afternoon and have had a horrible pain on my right side near my ribs. (under my right breast) ...taking deep breaths is out of the question as i get sharp pain from it...i am not getting any fevers, i walk and get around, no i am not doing too much, just what is recomended (i did over do it the first 2 days and over bled so i am listening to my dr)...this pain is scaring me like it may be a clot or something....
am i over reacting, does anyone elese have this pain and what is it and what can i do to get rid of it???? its not gas, i have tried the yummy milk of mag ...

i dont want to overreact, and go into the doc if its nothing, so i was hoping for some insight...

Thank you sisters!
you guys have made this so much easier!!!!!!

having some pain and scared/anyone with simular pain?

I had a similar pain on my left side and went to see my Chiropractor. It turned out to be a rib out from so much lying around. After he adjusted me I felt much better!
If you don't do Chiropractors or even if you do, I would (and did) call my Dr first, you can't be too careful!
Good luck!

check with the doc

Please check with the doc, as no one knows exactly what it is that is causing that for you. If it hurts to take deep breaths, that is something to get checked out.

Your physician is paid to help you out post op also as part of the surgery.
Don't feel bad about calling or going in to have peace of mind

Re: having some pain and scared/anyone with simular pain?

You need to call your doctor ASAP. Chest pain can be a symptom of pulmonary embolism.

  Quote:
Symptoms of a pulmonary embolism may cause shortness of breath if the emboli is small. If an infarction does not develop this may be the only symptom. More often the person will experience rapid breathing, anxiety, restlessness and may appear to be having an anxiety attack. When the person attempts to breathe deeply they may feel a sharp pain in the chest that is known as pleuritic chest pain.

AND

Chest pain under the breastbone or on one side. especially sharp or stabbing; also may be burning, aching or dull, heavy sensation. Maybe worsened by breathing deeply, coughing, eating, bending or stooping.

Don't put this off in case it's nothing. All symptoms don't have to be present. In cases where a clot is possible, it's better to err on the side of caution. To do otherwise could be fatal. I had a clot at 3 weeks post op, so it's possible at this stage of your recovery.
