Need advice on new pain

I've been feeling very good lately! Last week I was diagnosed with a draining abscess on my vaginal cuff on the stitches. Got some gel to put up there, it's mostly gone. Now today I started spotting a little and I'm hurting, like cramping deep inside, so bad I'm tempted to go to ER and that is soooo not me! It's just a tiny bit of spotting but the pain is insane. Ideas?

Re: Need advice on new pain

Since you already have been diagnosed with an abscess/infection...leave now...go see the doctor!

Intense pain is not normal. If you don't go to the ER, then definitely give the on-call doctor a ring. Keep us posted.

And I'm off...back to the hospital. Wish me luck! The on call dr I spoke with said it sounds like my cuff is starting to separate. If it needs to be re-stitched, how does that work?

That usually requires another short surgery, but I have my that it doesn't come to that!

Re: Need advice on new pain

I was kept til 3am and given the dreaded dilauded plus Zofran so it didn't make me sick. Pain stopped! . I still have that bladder infection from two weeks ago and the ct was inconclusive on the cuff issue so I've got to call my surgeon this morning to see if she wants to take a peak inside. I guess they don't do pelvic exams in the ER anymore...?

Re: Need advice on new pain

They don't like to to pelvics in the ER as just doing the pelvic can cause more damage depending on the issue. It may be that since they found that you had an infection, that was enough for them. Plus the point of the ER is to get you stable, not to get set to treat you. That's left for you doctor. Please let us know what you doctor says.

Re: Need advice on new pain

True enough... Well my dr is out of town all week. Lucky for me I had two surgeons so I'm seeing the other tomorrow afternoon. I'm really hurting deep in there where I imagine the cuff is so I'm scared. Bladder infections aren't fun but they've never hurt me like this.

Good luck at the Dr tomorrow. I hope that they find the cause and fix it for you. I will be praying for you.
