No Support!!

Hello Ladies,
Thank you sooo much for this site. My DH started out being very supportive. That was weeks ago when the Doc said surgery. Now it seems that because I don't look injured or ill, All I hear from him is "knock it off " "You'll be fine" etc. I am so hurt that I don't know if I wanna spit or Kick him!! I am only complaining because I want all of you to know how much all of you have meant to me...Thanks!!
Sue

Anyone else have this bizarre complaint??

Just my humble opinion - Maybe if you talk about your fears and concerns about the surgery to him instead of doing it in a way that he thinks is 'complaining', he may be more receptive. Of course, I know how men sometimes take talking as 'complaining' too - and you may be facing that situation. Did you direct him to the misterhyster section of this website - or maybe print up some pertinent pages for him.
Whatever it is - I hope that things get better. I know this is a scary situation and a frightening one for you.
Hang in there - the waiting is the most stressful part of this whole thing. Coming now from the other side, it was so much better than I thought it was going to be - and much easier healing too!

Maybe it is his way of convincing himself that you are fine....men like to fix things and this is something they can't fix...
My DH was alittle like that too....he didn't pay much attention to me right before the surgery but was there with me the whole time I was in the hospital. He has been alot better now he knows I am better.

He is confused and frustrated and concerned about you!!!

Ohhhhhh, I can so relate!

My DH is awesome and the most supportive man I know. H'es been great all along. Just yesterday, though, he got odd. I'm trying to clean the house so it's nice and tidy when I get home. As I've said in another thread, this is major work for me because I'm not a neat and clean housekeeper. Now my DH wants to paint the walls. WHILE I'm cleaning! I asked him to wait until each room is cleaned before he paints and he got all defensive on me and said I'm always making it difficult for him. (This came out of nowhere!)

I haven't been emotional during this ordeal but I cried. Doesn't he know what I'm going through? Why is he acting this way? (I have to tell you that in our 33 years we've never had a real serious argument so this is not like him.)

Bottom line, I think they're stressing a lot too. But it was odd behavior for him.

Hugs to you and the other sisters. I know my DH will be supportive when it counts. Maybe he's just having "a moment" and it came out that way.

Thanks!!
I have tried it all, Just sent him a link yesterday to Mr.Hyster!! I hope it works. I have tried to talk to him, I get the same responses, maybe it's his coping mechanism, I really don't know anymore..
But I do have this site , Thankfully!!

Something is really amiss here with my DH. My HysterSister pillow arrived in the mail this morning and he acted like I was splurging on needless things. I don't understand why he's acting this way. It's so totally unlike him.

But, on the other hand, he was very helpful at the drug store helping me find the Fleets enema I need fort he night before. Isn't he kind?

I really think this is hard on them, too. Just in a different way.

Oh aren't men fun. I'm not sure what's happenning to me yet. I have yet to find out. But my DH said "just don't do anything that's going to affect your drive". ? Well it's HIM who has INSISTED for years and years
that I remain on birth control pills, even though I've had breakthrough bleeding etc. so that he wouldn't have to wear a condom. Now I find out there may be a link between birth control pills and fibroids. Lovely.
