LSH - what to expect?

I had a total laparoscopic procedure, except they ended up delivering part of my uterus vaginally because they weren't able to morcellate it. The surgery lasted 5 hours, but I walked out of the hospital 7.5 hours afterwards. It is the best thing I've ever done. I had almost no pain (3 percocet after I got home and motrin for a few days after that). I was tired for the first 6-7 weeks, but that got better quickly.

I know how you feel about being nervous -- I was, too. But it all went fine for me and I'm guessing it will for you, too.

LSH - what to expect?

Please, let me put your mind at ease. It was No Big Deal At All!! He went through my belly button plus 2 small incisions and took out EVERYTHING. 7 hours after surgery I was walking comfortably, went home next morning and wondered when it was going to get bad - - it never did! If I hadn't known better I wouldn't have even guessed I had gone through a hysterectomy at all. This is the thing you must remember, though, even though you feel pretty good, you've still got to obey all the Dr's recommendations so you will have quick healing without complications. Lay back and enjoy all the loving attention and care and babying you are going to receive. You deserve it (and don't feel guilty, this is YOUR time!). bonniebolander60

LSH - what to expect?

I also am having LSH on Sept. 29. My uterus is the size of a 5 month pregnancy. I am soooooo looking forward to finally getting this taken care of. I am nervous but also excited to know how much better my life will be when it is all over. I wish you the best of luck.

LSH - what to expect?

I decided at my pre-op visit to go for the LSH BSO and save my cervix. I was originally scheduled for a LAVH BSO, but since my cervix is healthy I have opted not to remove it. I am a little less nervous now, because it sounds like the recovery is a little easier. I went to the pre-op at the hospital today and I am nervous, but not jumping out of my skin like I thought I'd be.

LSH - what to expect?

Hi there. I had my LAVH June 9th and it was WAY easier then I anticipated. I was scared & anxious, but had wonderful doctors & care. Being on the maternity ward was great as well, I had my son there! As for the surgery, I as well had a belly button insision and 3 others lower abdomen. I had pain of about 3 on a 1-10 scale the entire time. Had the cath removed later that evening, my request & peed all night! LOL Hardly hit the pain pump & went home the next day. I was on percecet & Ibuprophen and dropped the per in 2 days, freaky stuff! I walked when ever I could, and really did not suffer from the dreaded gas. My biggest complaint was lack of energy which returned about a month later. I did start estrogen and have only had mild hot flashes, not much else. If you have to get it done, the lap is the way to go if you can.

I just had a mastectomy July 28... now THAT one HURT! LOL Took my mind completely off the HYST/OOPH! LOL

Good Luck!
Loren
